If nothing is changed next year (except maybe for some minor roster moves) and Yao back fully healthy for the whole season, do you think we can repeat next year? That is if everyone else is healthy the whole season too.
considering that we're the first team to do it in 37 years what makes you think it'll happen again next year? winning streaks are not easy to come by at all. i think up until this season the longest regular season winning streak we had in the past 6-8 years was 8 games Tmac first season here before the all-star break. i am hoping we have more 8+ winning streaks in the future whether it be this season or the next couple of seasons, but 20+ i may never see that ever again
As weird as this sound, I don't think we will win 20 something games in row next year...but I believe we will get close to it....as strange as this sounds I think this teams could win 16 to 19 games next in a row. If everyone stays healthy, which is the biggest if of all.
Lets first see how the team finishes this year, but with a healthy Tracy and Yao, and if the team continues to play as a team as it has since 1/3/2008, I think the Rox could be considered as a contender for the championship.
If everyone is healthy, then it is possible. Also I think we will definitely have a better regular season record next year.
It will be tough to win 21 in a row (maybe even more) even with Yao in teh lineup but I really belive this may happen. Only if we continue to play that great defense.
Not really....what if we are the only team to do it for the next 20 to 35 years? That would be remarkable.... No team in sports history would ever done that....
In the long term it would be remarkable, but it the short term it might take away since it would make it seem like it wasn't that hard to do. This is especially the case when two teams had 17 game win streaks last year.
I doubt this will happen again. However, I am convinced that if healthy, we can go on some massive 10-1 runs and get to 60 victories. This is the first year under Adelman and these guys are just now turning the corner. They are going to get better once they get more acquainted and have more experience running Adelman's system. It looks like we could possibly push the 60 win mark this year. I know that means only 2 more losses. I don't expect us to hit 60. But right now, you'd almost have to pencil us in for over 55. So, next year, I think 60 is a realistic number. 60 wins and pushing .800 winning percentage.
There is a reason this hasn't been done in nearly 40 years. It's almost impossible. That's why it's so amazing. Not only do I strongly doubt we'll do it again next year - I doubt we'll ever do it again - and I wouldn't be surprised if no team ever duplicates it.
p.s. 36% of you are suffering from an extreme case of Homeritus. C'mon. This is amazing, but it's not common place. But then, I guess after we won our first two championships I felt like we could do that every year too. 13 years later, I know that isn't true.
for it to happen in the modern era is amazing. and it's mind boggling that injuries are happening to our opponents at just the right time. I'm not wishing injuries on anyone but don't feel sorry for them either. If you are a true rockets fan you know what I am talking about. hell if the 72-10 bulls didn't do it then it probably won't happen again.
NOP ...........this probably won't happen again for another 30 some years or dare I say in my or your lifetime. You have to give this winning streak the minimum respect you have even if you're not a basketball fan. It was NOT EASY to be able to win for almost 6 weeks in the tough, rough and competitive NBA, not to mention the toughest Western Conference, when the team had to play every other nights over the stretch with key players injured one after the other. That's probably WHY I'm p!$$ed that this winning streak has yet to get the minimum respect from the basketball experts, media and general fans.
