Of course but you talked about miracle man. We will miss Yao on the free throw, rebound and demand double team. Our supporting cast need to shoot a high percentage shot because every teams will double and triple T-Mac. If we have Yao they will have to worry both of them.

No way, not even for the 1st round.

You don't play anyone unless he is in the game condition, and played a few regular season games with the team prior to playoff, otherwise it will only damage the chemistry the team has currently.

Just think about this, even with the training camps, pre-season games, teams usually struggle for the first a few regular season games. It takes time to play together to get used to the game condition and each other.

then that means that Yao has a pretty good chance of coming back! :D
i think the odds of Yao coming back are about 1 in a 100. he's not going to start rehab until the middle or end of april. that's the scenario where there are no complications or set backs. then that only gives him about six weeks to continue to heal, build his strength back up, and get in game shape. now the rocks making it to the finals, i put at about 1 in 20. still a long shot. i would put it even better if they can secure the number 1 seed. assuming the standings stay the same, they would play Golden State first, then the winner between NOK and Utah, and then probably San Antonio or LA with homecourt advantage. impossible? no. improbable? somewhat.

having said that, i don't think Adelman's going to put Yao on the playoff roster. i remember when Peja got injured before the Finals against the Lakers, and when he came back in the middle of the Finals, he may have hurt the team more than he helped them. he couldn't shake free from Fox, and was shooting airballs in the fourth quarter of game seven. as cool as it would be for Yao to have a Willis Reed moment, the Finals is not the place to come back from a major injury.

I would in a heartbeat. You never know when it the next Final, maybe there would be no more in Yao's career. So that's doing Yao's good too.

    I think

his crutches may be more dangerous than Dike's elbows.

If I were coach of the Rockets, if he was given the green light to play (as the OPs question asks), then it is Yao's decision, not mine.

it would be ridiculous to do so. so in this hypothetical world, we're good enough to get through the toughest western conference in history and the team would then feel the need to play an obviously not fit yao ming? they would be in a groove at that point and you don't mess with that.

    No.

And he probably will not be on the playoffs roster to begin with.

Unless he's played at least 3 or 4 games throughout the last around, a big fat NO!! Even an all-star veteran like Yao takes a few games to adjust to the pace.

If, he was given green light to play (highly unlikely), he should play very very limited time. It will take him awhile to get back in game shape and there's no point in putting him in if it's detrimental to the team. Finals is not where you play to get back into game shape.

You should expand the question to: "Would you allow a franchise player who just had screws placed in his foot to play months earlier than his recovery period for the chance to alter, maybe better, chemistry on a team that has made the finals without him?"

really amazing that so many ppl worried about the chemistry assume yao could be back to the court(maybe in final ;) )...seems like yao's efficiency and determent is worst than mike harris ...landry...even deke ...maybe ppl might forget the guy who build up the confidence and chemistry for this team after 12 steak wins .....now its time to abandon the guy who plant the tree and enjoy the fruit...
    anyway go further rockets
