I have a Hp lab top & I was streaming some vedio from a sight I'v never heard of (Yes I know I'm Dumb ). Anyways I think I have a trojan virus becuase I'll turn the computer on and it laggs alottttt but once it gets going I'll surff the net or just use a windows application & the screen will turn blue & the lab top will re-boot it self. Well I went to Walmart & purchased the cheapest (not smart once again by me) Ant-virus disk for like $22. I loaded it up & downloaded it in windows safe mode but it needs an internet connection so I hooked it up and the scan dosn't go through becuase I am in windows safe mode but when I log into windows XP normal mode it kicks me off... I don't know what to do? Please I know there are alot of high tech guys around here so can someone point me in the right direction or guide me through it. THANK YOU!!!
Why, yes... yes it is. But that's not important right now. Shawn, does the desktop load, or does it show the Windows XP winder and then it reboots? We might be able to edit the registry that loads startup items. Come back and post EVERYTHING that loads. If you can see some icons on the desktop, you can run something before it reboots.
Nope no p*rn it was Simpson's. Welll it re-loads windows than it reboots after 5-15 min. Some times 5 min. Some times 15. Ect.
Do you have anything important on the hard drive. If not, or if you can manage to get what you need in safe mode, I'd just do a clean install. That way there's no doubt.
I wish I could do that! I don't have anything on that I need. Problem: I purchased the labtop used & did not get any recovery disks.
My girlfriend has a HP laptop. And she had the similar type of problem. Computer turned very slow, and the anti-virus program won't scan all the way through. It's not a virus though. I think it has something to do with the way they configure the hard disk. The only way I found to solve it is to reinstall the OS, either by means of using the recovery disk or a fresh copy. And once we reinstalled the computer, it has never appear again since.
Awsome thanks so much. You know where I can find a new re-install disk at? Does HP sell them or a online source?
I suggest you call the support desk first. However I don't think HP come with recovery disk. Normally they have a program that burn the recovery disk, but you only can run it once. You might as well just buy a copy of XP yourself and install it. If you are a student, you probably can buy a copy from your school for 20 bucks.
I'm gonna throw a semi related (COMPUTER HELP) question in this thread. Does anyone know how to get rid of Storage Protector? Somehow it got downloaded while downloading from I-Tunes. HELP!
