With all my time being consumed with reading about the streak and watching highlight videos of current and former Rockets lately, I came across a small nugget of information... Scola can straight up JAM. In his Euroleague days he didn't just dunk for the hell of it, he came in and put it down with a purpose. Clearly, those days must be behind him, but in this video he puts down facial after facial: http://youtube.com/watch?v=iJ-tZz-LbR8 (I do not know how to encode videos) Is there any reason why I have seen him dunk I think 1 time to date in the NBA? I know the leagues are different and he cares more about points (as he should), but, why not a jam on a fast break or getting the crowd fired up with a dunk over a layup when he is wide open under the basket? I honestly could care less as long as he scores, but it has just always puzzled me.
I can think of several reasons the athletes in the NBA are significantly longer then the athletes here. His constantly facing a person up front around the basket who is quick and long. His not particularly quick himself so its hard for him to elevate over someone to dunk. I think its the speed of the game in the NBA
Hmm...well, I gotta say, those Euroleague guys all look like they're mini Shawn Bradleys. It's a whole different league in the NBA.
yep, plus it seems to take alot out of him on the way down..he's all hunched over trying to regather himself on the court. He should only dunk once in a while.
i didnt watch every game rox played because of busy work, but i did see luis throwed down for several times, he's the player who cares more about team performance more than individual, but if he jumps up and dunk facially, don't be surprised.
He does blow layups at times, but with emphatic dunks like that, it can create a lot of energy for the team and the crowd.
That last baseline move was just sick. He left the defender falling out of his socks onto the floor. Great quicks.
Not bad. Liking Scola's dunking ability. He's not as quick and does not have the vertical that Landry does but Scola flat out has the moves.
He would get blocked by NBA players on a lot of those dunks. He's dunking on short people that cant jump.
