I love Geno and Jim. They have been the one constant in my years of being a Rockets fan. These are some memorable moments that I remember listenting to them. I will truly miss them when they hang it up. Rockets games on the radio won't be the same. :(

I am 33 and remember listening to them call famous Ralph Sampson tip in to win the Western Conference back in 1986 over the Lakers. I was at camp listening on a transistor radio and EVERYONE I was with including those 2 calling the game went nuts. They are like a great broken pair of jeans and are such a joy to listen to compared to the douchery that is Mark Vandermeer and Milo Hamilton.

Geno is a passionate homer yet he still calls out the team when we suck. Jim Foley is an encyclopedia of basketball knowledge without the dorky and boring stories of Craig Way.

During the radio broadcasts of the games, they are playing clips from over the years. What I love about these 2 is how they respond like fans screaming at **** like when the clock did not start during the last possession of Game 1 of the 1994 WCF series with the Jazz.

    Some of my favorites are:

    1. Geno dropping an f-bomb and screaming so loud that he knocked off the feed during the last game of the season in which we got screwed by the refs on a D-Rob tip in in San Antonio back in 1993. That game cost us home court against Seattle and I truly believe if we had it (remember evey game was won by the home team) we would have beaten Phoenix and gone on to beat the Bulls in the Finals.

    2. Kiss of Death.

    3. The 1994 Game 7 Finals win.

I want to hear these 2 call another championship run and go out with a bang. Who else is with me?

I also like when Jim screamed loud enough to knock the system out...I think maybe also an SA game? Possibly the Vernon 3 to tie and then 2 to win at the buzzer game amidst the 15-0 start? Or maybe it was the Miami Vernon 3? Somehow I'm thinking Vernon and that season..

And you can't leave off their call of Ralph's Shot!

    Nor Eddie Johnson's 3!

I remember muting the TV and listening to those guys call the game, so I wouldn't have to listen to Bill Walton. Gene and Jim are amazing, it's a shame they are retiring.

The thing I like about Gene, is that the opposing player could make an incredible shot and Gene will just say: "..and he puts it up and in."

    Or, "travel..they missed it."

    Love those guys!!

That was Jim Foley.........and yeah his voice was really breaking up...

Not sure how long you've been a fan, but for some us who's been following the team for decades and been through all the bad years and tough times and then to finally have a chance this season.....and then losing Yao........right now is way up there with the championship years......even if we don't win a playoff game this season, every player on the team is still leaving it all out there on the court just like Maxwell used to preach.....

hahaha... his voice wasnt breaking up, i think thats just how it sounds. i heard an interview with him on 610 and it sounded like he was crying then too. is it me or has his voice gotten more shaky over the years? maybe i was too young but i dont really remember it being that shaky in the mid 90s
