Sounded pretty reasonable, to me. I'd even agree with him, except for Houston's obscenely bad record without him. Shows just how much he was missed. Sacramento, on the other hand, played just fine without Webber.

He should've been a reserve at best.

GP is better and has played the whole ****ing year.

Saying Steve should start over GP means being a blatent homer and not a real fan of the game.

Isnt the Allstar game for the best players in the game!?!

    WELL THEN.....

Francis IS the BEST PG in the West.....thats why he is going, that and the fans voted him in.If you dont like it then just deal with it.

Fans have been voting in injured players since I can remember, do you remember the Penny situation?

If the fans didnt vote Steve in the coaches would of made sure he was there, im sure of that.

BTW, saying Steve doesent deserve to go to the allstar game means your not a real fan of the Rockets ;)

So I guess the 90 odd thousand extra people that votes for Francis over GP are "blatant homers" and "not real fans of the game"?

I obviously don't see the All-Star game the same way you do. I don't see it as a MVP-game. To me it is a game that is played by the leagues most popular players. Players that the fans want to see, and quite obviously the fans wanted to see Francis at starting guard (with Kobe) more than they wanted to see GP at starting guard. Besides Payton is going to the game as a reserve anyway. So what's the big deal?

This just in: Most NBA fans are blatant Houston Rocket homers. They voted for Steve over Gary.

Who gives a flying flip, Kobe Bryant started in the All Star game when he was coming off the bench, THE ALL STAR GAME IS ABOUT POPULARITY, NOT STATS .

The voting has been going on since the 2nd or 3rd week of the season. People voted for him before he went down with the injury. These idiots dont knowt that he was robbed last year when people like Divac? Wallace? D. Robinson? was picked over Steve Francis. It just shows how idiotic this so-called experts. Cant wait what Mike Monroe will say.

Who the hell cares? Its not like the All-Star game means anything. Its a frickin' exhibition.

The fans wanted to see Steve Francis start, and they got that, I couldn't be happier seeing Steve toss alley-oops to O'Neal, Duncan and Garnett.

Francis is good, no one can deny that. Should he have been picked over Payton? I'm pretty sure is was a good thing he was. The all-star game may not represent THE BEST players of the season and in the league, but very good players who are exciting and explosive in a game. Francis is just that. I'm glad he got picked cause he'll add more spice to the game, besides the fact that I think he's the best pg there.

    NEWS FLASH!!!

Gary Payton is no longer better than Steve Francis. Should Steve start maybe not because he missed a lot of games, but he should have started, or at least went last year. If anyone should have started it's Steve Nash not Payton. Nash is having the best season out of all these guys, but Steve is the best player. It will be fun to watch him play alongside the other All-Stars.

BTW out of the other PGs going. Could either of them take home the MVP award, because Steve can. ;)

If the All-Star game was strictly a reward for who had the best firts half, then Payton probably deserved to start over Steve...He's having a hell of a year, AND he plays at both ends...Given that, you could make an argument that he is still a superior all-around player, (1/2 of the game is defense, not 1/4 or 1/5 or whatever..)

BUT the All-Star game isn't, in my opinion, just a reward for whoever had the best 1st half...it's about popularity, and moreover, about who's the most exciting player at his position that people know about...Has Vince Carter clearly been the best player in the league the last 3 years? Hardly, but he has easily been the most popular, hence he has received the most votes...because he is the most exciting...

Let's be honest, however, if you're going to base your argument on MERIT, given that Payton and Francis are each having great years, but Payton has been there troughout while Francis has missed damn near 1/2 the season so far, MERIT probably goes to Payton...And I'm sure as hell that if the situations were reversed, and Stevie had played great the entire 1st half, and Payton had played (arguably) greater, but only for 1/2 the games, and Payton were elected, we'd all be crying foul...So I can understand Seattle's argument.....but that didn't stop me from voting for Steve (unofficially, of course) 4-5 times a week....nor does it diminish my excitment at the knwledge that he's going to be getting his share of the spotlight...It's gonna be fun....
