I sincerely think that one man in the NBA brings a curse wherever he goes. He goes to the Mavericks, they become a shell of themselves. He leaves our team, nineteen game winning streak.

Everyone was always wondering why we weren't good despite all of talent. Even so much that they dismissed us completely when we didn't win in the first couple of years with Tmac. Now we are in the underdog roll and a have a bright next couple of months. All because of one reason:

Juwan Howard's cursed ass is gone.

By that logic, shouldn't we have beaten dallas in 05 when Juwan went out for the season

    haha yes he is cursed.

i remember when orlando use to at least make the playoffs and then they signed juwan and became the worse team in the league that same season.

    and withmustard,

we would have been swept with juwan. the cursed player not being there wasn't going to suddenly make us better talent wise than dallas. just gave us a chance to compete.

No, he was still on the team. It's his curse, not his play.

Well, it was his play too.

Since the 94/95 season (his rookie year), no one has lost more regular season games.

    Code:
    Rk Player Pos Games
    1 Juwan Howard F 557
    2 Shareef Abdur-Rahim F 555
    3 Donyell Marshall F 541
    4 Eric Piatkowski G 506
    5 Antoine Walker F 484
    6 Lamond Murray F 477
    7 P.J. Brown F 473
    8 Joe Smith F 471
    9 Jalen Rose G 470
    10 Stephon Marbury G 463
But I would say the curse of Abdur-Rahim is worse. He's averaged 27 wins per 82 games played.

Based on this list, I guess having the wrong PF can really kill a team.

Incidentally, I think we would have beaten (maybe even swept) the Mavericks in '05 with Howard playing... There's a million excuses, but having to play Ryan Bowen that series for 20 mpg in place of Howard really killed us on offense many times. He is one of the most overrated "energy" guys ever; his defense is not that good, and his offense was absolutely atrocious. The scoring advantage Howard would have provided may very well have been enough to put us over the hump for those two close home losses. Dirk would have actually had to guard someone.

... Oh well, coulda woulda shoulda.

    Ha.
The whole reason why we were in that series at all is because TMac and Ryan Bowen shut down Dirk. If Juwan's stagnant ass would have been in there, Dirk would have scored all over him. I don't care what you think about Ryan Bowen's play or career averages or if he is overrated or not, that series he shut down Dirk. This is the key reason why we would have gotten our asses kicked completely, JVG would have stuck with Juwanna Man and Dirk would go for 30 every night.
You are severely, SEVERELY overestimating Juwan's offensive capabilities. He could make an open jumpshot at the top of the key. That is it. He had a low finish rate on his post game, and simply was not athletic enough to get to the rim by himself.
    . . . .got beat by forty every night . . .

Anyways this thread is not about Juwan's play, it is about his curse.

    i'm bumping this one.

the gods have been good to the rockets since we threw juwan to the mavs.
now we are on the best winning streak in a billion years and the mavs are seeming to implode with bad decisons.

Juwan Curse is over for the Rockets!

I'm not going to look at the numbers because I'm suppossed to be working, but I wonder what was Juwan's team's record when he scored 20+. I bet it was some r****dedly awful number.

Remember when Yao and Tracy both went out two years ago and he was the go to guy? He scored 20 every night and we lost by 20.

    Good riddance you curse.

Our winning streak started once they announced steve francis was done for the year. He was causing chemistry issues. Bringing him back to this team, after trading him for tracy mcgrady was a bonheaded move by management.
