no, but if you take all the circumstantial stuff and add it up, you have the following: - landry went out with swelling in his surgically repaired knee - landry had lost explosiveness in recent games - landry has been in rehab (not simply resting/icing) - the rockets cleared a roster spot for his interim replacement, at the expense of gerald green and a 2nd round draft pick (a high price if he's only going to be out for a couple of games) - the rockets brought in a player to fill the gap his abscence created rather than just playing scola/hayes/deke additional minutes (in other words, the rockets went for a longer-term solution rather than a short-term solution) - the rockets have not made any public statements about landrys return - the rockets have kept as low a profile as possible about the nature of the injury and his rehab in isolation any one of these is nothing big, but to me, when you add them all up it spells a couple of weeks without landry. just my opinion. that's all.
it doesn't matter much because it is always possible that he was overcompensating (because of his previous injury) and injured the other knee, meaning it could be caused by the same injury despite which knee it is. I hope not, it seems like they caught it pretty early but if it is serious they would have probably found something out by now.
oh gawd Landry is the teams best finisher ;; When he gets fouled hard I expect him to make the and 1 play still
My guess is that his agent is keeping him out as a precaution until his knee is 100%. His contract expires at the end of the year and even though its minor, they don’t want to take a chance that it could turn into something similar to what he had with his other knee. It’s easier to take a risk if you have a nice contract. If it weren’t for this contract situation, he would probably be playing right now. This is my conspiracy theory.
I am of the same opinion. This could cost him some money on his next contract, too, if he is out for any extended period.
As much as I hate to admit it, its looking more like something that could be a troubling injury. Hopefully they keep him on a lockdown and don't bring him back to early. As great as this streak is, the playoffs are much more important.
Wow you guys are the biggest pessimists I know. They are just playing it safe because the teams we are playing suck. They care more about Landry's knee than this winning streak. He will probably play tommorow, and If not tommorow then definitely Sunday. The guy said he was walking fine in that interview remember? Jesus...
No one is saying he's shutting it down for the year. NBA teams don't routinely sit rookies out for several games in a row unless its something that warrants it. We aren't saying the sky is falling, we are just being realistic.
on the plus side a week of rest for a rookie certainly is a boon versus the rookie wall. like you, like everyone I saw the diminished explosiveness the last 2-3 games. didn't know he was hurt, racked it up to tired rookie legs, after giving it 100% every game for 2 months. we dont really know what's going on, what you wrote might be happening... but on the plus side not many guys get a nice rest in the 2nd half of the season... maybe for a rook, that will pay dividends in the playoffs. any semblance of a rumor about his knee (true or not) might hold off other teams giving him a big payday all conjecture, but like the negative crap you can also pull positive crap out of yer asses... depends if you're a half full/half empty kind of guy
Landry is busted up. He tore his ACL and is out for the season just like Shaun Livingston. Didn't you see him bend his knee at a 90 degree angle? He will require six hours of surgery and another year off with underwater running therapy before he is able to bear weight on it. After which he will require another 4 months of Traditional Chinese Medicine with needles before he is able to run up and down the court. Damn! Guess we lost another good prospect!
well landry really shouldnt have been fighting the rookie wall considering he started playing halfway through the season. i think that applies more to rookies who have been playing from opening day. but i think youre right on that it might be really helpful for later in this season if we get the explosive landry back. definitely something to look forward to hey, hopefully i'm wrong. its just an opinion. but if he's coming back soon why the hell did we screw with the roster/rotation? it would be a head scratcher, no?
Where are people getting the "he wasn't as explosive the last 2-3 games he played." As far as I can remember, it was only the Mavs game that he wasn't as explosive with dunking everything. He still played really well and got plenty of lay ups. The injury supposedly happened against the Pacers the game before and he was pretty damn explosive in that game. Check the video and the 3rd quarter dunk he had: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BouGwkz61oM&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BouGwkz61oM&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
