    from CNNSI :

"TORONTO (AP) -- Hakeem Olajuwon will be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks with a strained right thigh, but the Toronto Raptors center will not need surgery.

He will begin intensive rehabilitation once the swelling subsides, the team said Tuesday.

Olajuwon was injured during the second quarter of Toronto's 106-97 home victory over Orlando on Sunday. He left the game after scoring eight points.

Olajuwon has appeared in 36 games this season, averaging 8.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.75 blocks. He missed nine games from Dec. 19 to Jan. 6 with an infected toe.

No roster replacement has been announced.

Well the Raptors game in Houston is on March 5th.

That gives him just a little over 4 weeks to come back for that game.

Yeah it was obvious he was going to break down this year, but it kind of sucks that he might not be able to dress out for the game in Houston...

WTF kinda injury is this? I was expecting that blood clotting problem to take him out this year.

    :(

I hope he gets well soon. I sure as hell also hope he does not miss the Houston game. I think he will play that game to show the Rockets a thing or two.

    :(

A more significant question: Is this a real injury? I don't think the Raptors would give Olajuwon a case of "Langhi-itis," but youneverknow.

Well, at least Cato is better than Olajuwon in a wheelchair.

A strained right thigh keeps you out 4-6 weeks? This sounds like a mysterious Kelvin Cato injury.

Hakeem is making himself look bad. He should of retired when he had the chance. I always think you should retire when you think your time is done and your still showing that you can play, so people always remember that you had game till the last games. Hakeem on other hand is going to leave the nba on a sour note. Injurys after injurys.

Hakeem is playing only because of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Or maybe Hakeem's playing because he's avging 8/7 and is better than 50% of the Cs out there. Who the **** are you to say he should retire?!!? He knows himself.

Yah, we got Kelvin Cato who everyone is boning over now that he's had a few good games. He'll always rude fat overpaid prick who I'd trade straight up for ANYONE else in the NBA.

Hakeem's true value will come in the playoffs while Kelvin spends his offseason gaining weight and playing golf.

Dream left the game against Orlando early in the game so it obviously wasn't a fake injury. He had 8pts in the first half btw.

I heard he'll be back in uniform for the end of February...

Time for Keon Clark to step up and prove himself.

Hey, another thread dedicated to slamming the best Rocket of all-time. What a surprise.

I can't help but think a lot of you are happy to see this happen. I'm sure you're disappointed that you couldn't have been the one to break the fantastic news. You probably wet yourself when you saw this little tidbit come across the wire.

It's so frustrating knowing that Hakeem gave you ungrateful pieces of garbage two championships.

Nobody's happy it happened, but a lot of people could sure see it coming. What's wrong with speaking up when a prediction comes true?

He should retire because he's a shell of his former self. He looks slow. It's ruiing his legacy, something that I am sure is important to him. It also ruins my memory of him. I want to remember the Dream who averaged 27/13/4 a game. 3 years ago, he averaged 16/9 and we said he's s till bettter than 80% of the centers. Two years ago he averages 13/8, and we say he's still better than 60% of the centers. Now he's averaging 8/7 and we're saying he's better than half the centers. Notice a trend?

I disagree. I think many people on the board are happy it happened. The fact that anyone would even make a prediction like this to begin with really tells you all you need to know.

How 'bout if I make a prediction that Francis will get a migraine and miss the All-Star game. Would it be appropriate for me to then start a thread "Francis Misses All-Star Game with Headache", and tell everyone "Told you so. You knew this was coming."? Do you think that would go over well?

I'm happy that it happened...simply to see your reaction - because I knew it would piss you off to see people talk about it. :p ;) :)

Some people think they have the right to tell the best Rocket ever when he should retire.

Who makes predictions about this kind of thing?! Pretty ****ed up.
