    King's X

They always had rave reviews in the press, but never quite built a very big following.

    Beautiful harmonies.
    Intricate guitar parts.
    Innovative songs.
    Creative lyrics.

    And the most impressive:
They are a 3 piece band.

Oh yeah they are also from Houston.

too many to list because, quite simply, most music buyers are sheep, but: the pixies, the minutemen, husker du, fugazi...

and i always wince to see how formative the backlash against pearl jam is -- i don't get why people so massively jumped off their bandwagon, and, further, why so many people find so much to fault them for. doesn't creed make anyone more appreciative of pearl jam? as long as i live, i'll never, ever, not for one second understand the appeal of creed. it's dumbfounding...

(and ric steps off his soapbox...)

Rockpile. Best band you never heard of, and broke up way before they should have.

btw, somewhat off the topic -- i noticed they're starting to get more and more notice, but if you haven't checked out the strokes yet, they're cd is addictive; the cure + the velvet underground with a pinch of both the pixies and vintage stones make them a pretty viable, enjoyable band. here's hoping they're for real.

I don't think so, they're hugely appreciated by the only people that matters, their fans.

Enuff Z Nuff?!! You gotta be kidding. If not, then no offense and to each his own, but ...............Enuff Z Nuff?!!!!

As for Ric's question of why people are off of the Pearl Jam wagon I can only offer my opinion. First off, I only own the first album. I loved 'Even Flow'. But to me they are a solid band together even though I don't see any one of them being very good at their respective instruments. I don't hold it against them so I probably shouldn't have brought that up. My main beef is with Vedder. For some reason, and I can't put my finger exactly on it, I despise him. He strikes me as a pompous ass! I've reached the point that I will change the station EVERY time Pearl Jam is on. Now I know many, many people love them. To each his own.

I think the biggest knock on Creed is their sudden commercialization. Also the religious aspect. But as a band I'd have to definitely say they are better than Pearl Jam. Of course this is only my opinion. I'm not the biggest Creed fan either, but the guitarist in Creed can outplay both guys in Pearl Jam with his ass. (ok...I know that ones gonna get me killed!!)

Check out Splender. I've got their first album (not sure if the second is out yet) and it's very good. To me they've got it all. Great singer, great guitar playing, they can rock and they can tone it down. But hey WTF do I know...........I don't like Pearl jam, remember :D

Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals -- appreciated by the fans, but don't get enough praise here in the U.S.

Get back to me after you've listened to the "Seven", "Paraphernalia", and "10" albums. Until then, shut the **** up.

I may get crucified for saying this, but rock wise, I think that Motorhead is a great band that has not been appreciated for their contribution to rock music.

Two others that come to mind (I have to pick some stuff up by them) are Screaming Trees and Mudhoney.

Also, Joy Division is another one.;)

Plus one of the godfathers of Industrial in Skinny Puppy.

    Backstreet Boys...

Those are some fine, upstanding young gentlemen...

    OK, OK...seriously...Weird Al Yankovic...

Dude gets NO radio airplay, save for the Dr. Demento show, yet manages to crank out platinum records.

    Rush

They have endured the decades with the best of them and even longer than those who have faded away. They have so many albums I have lost count. Still, they are even now only recognized mainly for their old stuff. They do have a strong fan base who do like their stuff since "Moving Pictures"....believe it or not. They have to be doing something right to endure so many years. I think they have really good chemistry and you don't see too many 3 person bands who have done what they have done. Every once in a while....they get some appreciation, like in Canada or from other musicians. When they tour, the fans come out. The older Rush was more popular and probably sold out more shows. The latter years Rush still brings them out...just not as many. It doesn't help that Rush somehow is seen as a band liked mostly by men with fewer women.

Still, I think they are right up there as most underappreciated. They have endured and will continue to endure. The lyrical stylings of Neil Peart shall endure. I believe this band has influenced more bands than we will ever hear about through the media or the bands themselves. I believe they still have alot of great music left and I'm looking forward to their next studio album coming out....soon(this year).

Regardless, I grew up on Rush and they will always remain one of my favorites.

I see you added they smiley! Truth is I've only heard one song. Something like "Get high on a new thing...." from back in the glam days. I'm not going out and familiarize myself with the Enuff Z Nuff catalog, the Poison catalog, the Faster Pussycat catalog or any other glam act. I'm sure as the years went on they've changed their image but this is what is stuck in my head.

So, while I see you'd like me to shut the **** up. This is an open forum. And even jackasses like you are allowed share their opinions. So please, speak freely and often and don't be afraid to mix in some intellegence even if you are trying to insult other posters. :)
