Yeah it's not as great as winning a championship, but if you think about it, it does occur less often (3 times in what, 60 years?). Compound that with the relative amount of talent on this team (MARKEDLY less than any other team that won 18 straight) and I can see where Worrell is coming from. I would put '94-'95 above this since we were huge huge underdogs that year also, but still, 3 times in 60 years, I can understand the idea.

I think Worrell is pulling a Tinman, he's hyping the moment for the sake of posterity. Worrell is known for exaggerations also. Can't blame him though, we haven't done anything much since the back to backs.

If any of you guys were listening to Gene and Jim they were orgasming all over themselves. It was incredible to hear them and gave me a lump in my throat.

Seriously though I think Jim said something very similar and he sounded like he was about to cry. Something along the lines of "I never thought I would see this again in my lifetime."

Well I took it as being proud of their attitude and never say die mentality.

Not literally proud because that would be insane.

give the man a break, he's elated. yeah he messes up from time to time but he is one of the best announcers i've heard in any sport. i would rather watch home broadcasts than national tv ones just to hear what he has to say, he legitimately gets me riled up during the games.

its the scenario...we dont have our best player..and we overcome adversity ..and still win 20-0..not to mention turning nonbelievers into bandwagoners

there hasnt been much to cheer about in 13 years. I dont blame Bill for saying. He's like us. He sat through the Juaquin Hawkins and Terrance Morris era too

Who knows what will happen in the playoffs/Finals ... all of us are pulling for that. That's not what Worrell was talking about. He said this moment, right now, was the organization's "finest hour".

    HUH?

I'm not going to make that big of a deal about it ... but I'm guessing there are now too many young pups on the board who didn't live the NBA title years.

I could list off a lot of great teams that never did this.

I loved the championships because I love to win it all, but this accomplishment puts this Rockets team on a special pedestal. They've face an immense amount of adversity. They've lost 2 key contributing players, they started the season looking like a bunch of NBA scrubs, they have gone from out-of-the-playoffs to contenders and every question large or small... they've answered it.

My admiration for the Champions will always be extremely high, but as far as proud goes, I'm with Bill. These guys are over achieving to such a high level that only 36 people on earth can relate. If they win another game, it will be 24.

This is special. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Well, in Bill Worrell's defense, he wasn't doing commentary when the Rockets won against the Knicks and Magic(Marv Albert and Matt Goukas were). He was actually doing the play-by-play tonight, so this might mean more to him from a career standpoint.

Clutch, I think Bill was referring to the finest hour of the the T-Mac Yao era.

sounds like someone's been hanging around tinman too much.

i understand Worrel's sentiment. i don't see any disrespect to the championships at all.
