The quotes were from the other, but your point is taken. Context? We certainly did not hear the interview or see how it literally translated throughout. I clearly give the big guy a big pass.
I see where you're coming from, but I think a leader needs that kind of confidence. The team needs confidence in him, so if any player on the team is angry at his statements, then that would shows that he isn't as important to the team in the eyes of his teammates. This team has more chemistry than that and everyone on the team knows their roles.
Perhaps we should keep in mind that Yao was answering questions from a Chinese reporter, and the intended audience of this interview was not Shane, Tracy or any of his Rockets teammates. The fact of the matter is nobody really knows what will happen in this year’s playoffs, including Yao. But instead of giving some politically correct answers, I think Yao just tried his best to answer the reporter’s questions based on his honest feelings at that time.
No he is right, Yao did mean we are not "genuine" contenders right now without him. The fact is WE ARE NOT. There is no way we can be considered championship contenders without Yao, even JVG said that and he is a big Rockets fan himself. This does not mean we cannot play out of our minds (as we have since Yao went out) and actually win the whole thing. But to say we are "contenders" in other words one of the favorites to win the championship is ludicrous.
Well I hope the bests for Yao Ming. I know he might be a little bit worried on his mind because the Rockets are playing so well without him, but he has to be strong and keep beeing strong. Remember that game when he threw a towel on the floor and got ejected? I hoped that he could play the next game 10 times more aggresive but he didn't. Now it's the time for him to change. It's good to see him to rest and think. He definately has the potentiel to be the best center in the NBA. The last game against the Cavs he got blocked 5 times and it really made me mad/sad at the same time. I hope he'll get well soon and be a new and confident Yao Ming. He's still my favorate NBA player.
What do you mean he definitely has the potential to be the best centre in the NBA? He is the best already in all the current crop of centres !!
Yao was saying it conservatively. What he meant to say was this team is a beast without me. Next year we will dominate even more because I will added into the mix. And theres no doubt how that 7'6 body can help this team to be one of the most dominate team of all times.
Dude, do you think in the finals it's time to ''make some change''? We just gotta do our best with what we got and what we got is GOOD
