It is not impossible for the Rockets to win the title this year, but it would be a miracle if they won. And if that happened, it would probably be the greatest story ever in NBA.
I miss Yao too, I wish we were having the streak WITH Yao. Lets win one for the Gip . . . err I mean Giant!
I think we can win a championship this year. The only team I feel like we'll get hurt by is suns or spurs because of their bigs....but we have a legitimate chance unlike what everyone else thinks. And if Yao sat in the second row....I'd be pissed if i payed 2k for a seat and had him sitting in front of me haha
yao is the ultimate team player. i don't know how anyone can hate on a guy like yao. i just hope he has more chances to rest in the future so he can be healthy to help this team win a championship.
the only positive thing coming out from last year's painful loss to Utah is that we replaced JVG with Adelman, whose team is so fun to watch.
yeah, this team really flows. I like it. Utah is not by the way who we want to draw in the first round. They are leading their division and have a higher winning efficiency than San Antonio.
If you are Shane Battier (just an example) do you want Yao telling people what you can and can't do? I know I'd be super pissed, even if I do think it's far fetched as a fan.
As an athlete, they are obliged to say things like "the sky's the limit for this team" or "anything is possible", but do you really think Tmac and Shane really think this team will win a championship without a lowpost prescense? Do you think Rudy Gay would be angry if Lowry said his team won't make the playoffs? As a player they should know more about the team than fans, so I don't think he would be superpissed.
Here is the quote, as translated: TITAN Sports: Then what about this season? So how far this Rockets team playing without you can go? Yao Ming: I believe this team could pass the first round and realize the target that Tracy and I had not been able to achieve together last season. Where does it say that the Rox would lose Round II? It says, and I believe it to mean, that the Rox goal is to win the first series. Then, the second and on. The play-off equivalent to 'one game at a time'.
I do think we match up well with the Jazz as we are currently constructed. Hayes and Scola can match up with Boozer and Okur fairly interchangeably, but here's what I fear: Utah's cheating on the home court. Just like how the Minnesota Twins used to have their AC blowing in from the outfield on their opponents' innings, I'm convinced the Jazz are rigging something at their house to give such a dramatic advantage (I mean they lost the other day at the Bulls for crying out loud). They will do everything they can to win their home games and just sneak one past us on our floor, like last year.
The difference is that Kyle Lowry is still playing. DO NOT CONFUSE ME WITH A YAO HATER. If you're Tracy, Shane, Scola, or Landry do you really want someone who, while still a part of the team, isn't playing, to tell you that you can't do X because I'm not there? They still haven't lost since Yao went down, and while the playoffs are a different animal, at least let them loose once before you tell them that it's out of the question. After saying all that, I do believe the Rockets are a better team with Yao. But as I see it that takes from very good to HOLY ****, not ok to very good.
People got it from... Yao: "...just wait for my return in the new season, and we shall be a genuine championship contender." Making it a conditional statement would imply we aren't this year.
You are misleading Yao's words. Maybe you are not a Yao hater, but you DID read too much from the lines.
