    due to election coverage, the admin must think this will slip quietly into the night...

    this is not going to happen. it will be brought up early and often during the general election campaign.

    i think mccain is a good candidate but its a mistake for him to get in bed w/ bush and rove... too bad bush's legacy will leave a black eye on mccains whitehouse asperations.

    While its a bad analogy either way I would say there is a better case for using Germany or Japan for forcing democracy at the point of a gun than regarding rebuilding a functioning society. While it was tough rebuilding Germany and Japan was a garden tea party compared to Iraq given that there was no ethnic strife in the aftermath of WWII, no insurgencies and the governments set up were fairly stable.
