http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5612098.html I personally don't think it's that big of a deal, but I figured some people might find it interesting. And I sure hope he's right. EDIT: Thanks to durvasa for the following clarification... I guess Barron/Feigen just wanted to stir up controversy, so they cut the remainder of the quote.
Guarantees are stupid. Who cares. If he does not feel that way he would not be playing. I hope this does not get blown out of proportion.
A video of this was posted the other day. He DID NOT guarantee a win. After that quote, he prefaced it with saying "if" they play like they've been playing. He joked that given his past, he's not going to be making any guarantees.

I agree, he shouldn't guarantee. Not a good idea to piss off a professional NBA team with these smack talks. It motivates them. I think TMac realized it after he blurted those words. Oh well.
Honestly, Tmac and the entire team looks focused and not over celebrating anything. This just sounds like he knows the reality of the streak but doesn't believe it will end against the Hawks. I think its a bit of a stretch to say guarantee, sounds like he has confidence that his team can pull the hawks game off with a win, and you know what, I do too, and im sure you do in the back of your mind.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5611900.html "One of these days, the streak has to come to an end," McGrady said. "It won't come tomorrow (at Atlanta)." Say what? "It will not come tomorrow." He's told that sounds like a guarantee. "You heard what I said earlier. If we take care of our business, if we play the way we've played the last two months ... " He paused and smiled. "There ain't no guarantee."
Good, I want Tmac confident. This team is full of confidence. Now, there is a difference between confidence and cockiness but he didn't cross that line. Cheers to 20!
Edited first post for clarification. And I believe there actually was guarantee...he just backed out of it when he got the chance.
Watch the interview for yourself: http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/channel?section=news/sports&id=5755231 Not a guarantee. Nice save by T-Mac!
Yao Ming crying, Drexler and Worrell laughing at dead players, T-Mac guaranteeing wins, dogs and cats living together, MASS HYSTERIA!!!
he's right the streak will end one day. I am hoping it will be the end of finals vs Boston where we beat them 4-0. However, realistically our real challenge would be playing the lakers and the celtic. if we los to either one of them and end our streak, both the players and the fans would be much better to swallon and get right back up. Losing to hawks would effect our moral specially to the young players. Bibby, joe johnson, and jos smith are no easy task. they are young and unpredictable. we should set the tone in the beginning and roll them over tonite!
nah, i think you didn't post the whole thing from the chron. he said that, then at the end he smiled to the reporters and said, "THERE AIN'T NO GUARANTEE." hes just saying if we played hard like we have been, we should handle our business. nothing wrong with that.
