    Adelman: The respect thread

I will start with -- You can't tell me that there is a coach right now in the NBA who is more deserving of being considered as coach of the year.

Just to add a picture for flavor: You can see the genuine respect that the two (MVP & coach of the year) have for each other. I'm lovin Adelman, and honestly can't think of a better coach out there in the NBA that I would rather have on my team right now, without a doubt!

Topic may potentially be for the D&D, but I would say that he is a few steps from being considered as the all time best Rockets' coaches (and probably currently in this order -- subject to change, and hopefully soon):

    Rudy T.
    Rick Adelman
    Bill Fitch
    JVG
    Don Cheney, etc

Ya, how can I go against Rudy (or even JVG, for you new guys)? Agree, Rudy may never be surpassed until the next coach wins more than 2 championships. Though, that said (and without being homers) we should consider that (H)akeem can definitely help a coaches rep. And as for JVG, he will have the "not getting past the 1st round" rep over his head more than T-Mac -- as far as I'm concerned.

The changes made in less than 5 mo.s of having Adelman at the helm are freakin incredible. After approx 20 yrs of following the Rocks, this must be the most exciting team to follow, not necessarily b/c of the streak but b/c of the up tempo style, overall "smart" bball played, chemistry built, etc. (granted, after the JVG standard, up tempo may be easy to judge).

YES, the jury is obviously still out, and we will see what the playoffs have in store -- BUT man, after considering the respect that we all have for Rudy - I think that we have found a rather long and promising future through Adelman. [while also considering that morey has certainly not disappointed at all to date]

He is certainly respected within the NBA -- and surely more so now after the addt'l national press during the streak, that's a given.

Here's to hoping that that will translate into him getting coach of the year!

He deserves it! Who's with me?

I am fortunate to have a few friends that work with the team. The whole environment this year has changed. The culture that Rick and his staff have put in place has been a BIG part of the team coming together for this run we are on.

I loved Jeff as a coach, but he was such a Debbie Downer. With Rick, we seem to get a more balanced attack, and a more balanced personality at the helm.

    Big Ups Coach!

How old is RA? Looks like he's in his late 60s. just wondering how much longer he can coach the Rockets.

plus he's only gotten about 10% of his read and react high post offense installed. But who cares? If the team doesn't play well with that type of offense, why mess with success?

He's 61, and no I don't think that he is headed for the retirement home anytime soon.

And, by the way, we have a presidential candidate right now that just hit 71; so, yes I think he may be OK.

You can tell he is a master veteran coach when you look back to the start of the season, after evaluating the team he told the media "don't judge us by the start of the season, judge us by the end"... everyone was quick to dismiss the Rockets by the half-way mark of the season, but look at us now.

As an anti-JVG guy I'm glad this team is doing well. If Adelman had sucked I would've been enjoying a nice fat plate of crow by now.. :D

I won't say anything before the playoffs ended.

Pippen can also take us into the playoffs. We need a coach to break through first round.
