Anybody catch the fight Saturday night? He lost a split decision to Nate Campbell. He got cut by a headbutt in the first or second round and it really affected him throughout the whole fight. His eye was swollen shut by the end of the fight and he looked pretty bad. As much as I hate to see Diaz lose, Campbell deserved the W, and almost got screwed by a bad call by the ref where he took a point away. I'm glad to hear that he's leaving Don King after that fight. For somebody as exciting as he is to watch, he should be a household name, but they don't do a good job of promoting him or his fights. I hope he signs with somebody who will do a better job. He was going to sign with Goldenboy a couple years back but decided to go with Don King instead.
I think he's fun to watch because he throws alot of punches and he's relentless, but you are absolutely right that he has no power. Thats why he lost. Campbell stood toe to toe with him and took everything Diaz had and threw more, and landed more effective punches and coasted to the W.
It was on HBO right? I missed it. I saw the intro. Nate Campbell is an amazing story, started to box at age 24, turned pro at 27...
Yep it was on HBO. Yeah, they said he used to work the overnight shift at a grocery store and would shadowbox to keep himself awake at night. One of his coworkers saw him and told him he should go to a gym and the rest is history.
What do you guys think about Samuel Peter? Can he beat Wladimir Klitschko and more importantly can he bring some excitement back into the heavyweight division?
