no, you're correct. They read the wire-tap papers on the homeless serial case, then called the number, and the number was marlo's cell phone which was being kept in the evidence locker after Marlo's arrest.
That's an interesting question for a law school exam as to whether or not privilege was waived. More likely the evidence against the Stanfield defendants is tossed out on the whole "fruit of the poisonous tree" thing w/regard to illegal wiretaps rather than any privilege attaching to the phone number.
Nope. Although, Episode 9 was on demand. Probably one of the best episodes The Wire has had. The final scenes with Dukie, Bug and Michael was deep. Dukie trying to reflect on old memories but Mike had to grow up so fast, he didn't even remember them. It almost looks like Dukie is going to end up a junkie which is pretty sad since he was a good kid. I just wished it would go on for just one more season . Oh yeah, here's that scene that Dukie was referencing too in his final scene with Mike: "I F'ing pissed myself!" And check out little kenard, the omar killer, on the roof.
I had a whole evening planned. After I left the gym, I went home and I was going to order Chinese and watch the last episode on demand. Well, the Chinese food place I order from apparently went out of business and the damn episode wasn't up. To make things worse, the only game worth a damn on tonight is Utah vs Dallas -- my two least favorite teams. I'm not in my happy place right now.
I wonder if they are going to bring up the Rawls being gay storyline. He was in that gay bar in one episode last season or the year before, but it was never referenced again. They have a lot to try and wrap up with only one episode to go.
Yea, The Whole 'Great Debaters' scene at the end was out of no where and just seemed a little forced Dukie becoming the NEW 'Bubbles' Etc Good Episode though Rocket River "Hey Mike, how my hair look?" "You look good Girl."
Is there a any better, more terrifying female villain than Snoop? I loved her character. The way she went out was classic. I also read that she actually use to be like that before she started doing The Wire. Was locked up for killing a girl when she was still a teen.
jus a heads up, the last episode leaked. I havent finished watching it yet, but its jus as good as episode 9.
Just got done watching the series finale. spoilers below Spoiler Great series finale. For such a depressing show, I thought it was (except for the dookie plot line) a fairly happy endings type of episode. But given how invested I had become in many of the characters, I can't complain about that. Considering how many people knew about the serial killer truth, i was surprised that it could be kept under wraps long term. I guess all that stays in the theme of how city institutions work. Before the episode I was a little upset because i thought I had inadvertently caught a major spoiler in the season finale. At the beginning of this season I was listening to a interview with Clark Johnson (gus) on npr's fresh air. He let it slip that the last scene he shot as director of the final episode was a police funeral scene at a bar. I had deducted that it just had to be McNulty, so it was a pleasant surprise when it was just a mock funeral. Anyways, I thought the final season was weaker than the others, but the last few episodes were top quality. In general it was just one of the best tv series I've ever seen and it was a nice way to go out.
Wow no comments on sundays series finale yet? I had to work so I'm going to have to catch it later if I can't find it online. I've been trying to download it but every torrent I try doesn't work. Anybody know where I can download or watch online?
The thing I enjoyed in the end everything coming full-circle and the newer characters basically taking the roles that the old characters did in the first season. Spoiler Marlo becoming Stringer Bell trying to go straight (obviously he rejected that one), Duquan turning into a junkie like bubbles, Michael becoming the new Omar, Sydnor becoming the new McNulty by talking to the judge which is how the whole show started, Carcetti becoming the new Royce (by being corrupt)...etc. I forget any?
kind of depressing, nothing changes, everyone starts off with high hopes and the system beats them down. the only people who win are the people who don't care about actually making the system better. It was interesting, I didn't know if mcnulty and lester were heros or just more scamming the system, even though the goals were noble.
should add, Spoiler slim charles becomng the new prop joe is another case of role resumption, as well as the reporter who wrote the story on Bubbles (name I forget) becoming the new Gus, also I loved the shot of former Barksdale killer Wee-Bey and Chris sharing a look of resignation in the prison yard. The exceptions I guess ar a few characters who broke the patterns and got out of their old lives (Bubbles, Namond, Cutty, Prezbylewksi oand oddly Daniels)
Spoiler Great finale, but I wish they'd have had Randy be Michaels accomplice when they robbed that dealer instead of some random guy. That would have been perfect. Also, I loved that Prop Joe's death was avenged
randy wasn't like that, if he would have used randy, he might as have used duke. the characters are well formed and they rarely do things outside of the personality the writers have created. its like the little kid shooting marlo, that kid is the same one who robbed namond and started the fight with duquon. it wasn't shocking when he shot marlo, outside of the fact that marlo got shot.
I liked that scene in the idea that Marlo isn't "untouchable" anymore. "Do you know who I am?" and then after he looks surprised he's actually bleeding now.
