from ESPN McGrady said bluntly that the Rockets' streak still has no significance. His mind is already preparing for the postseason, where he's winless in six series. "Our concentration and focus is really all about the playoffs," he said. "We've had pretty good runs in the regular season. Not quite like this, but, this is a team that's won 50 games in the past. It's all about the playoffs with us. "The streak is great. We'll make a little history," he said. "But it really doesn't mean anything." even tmac knows this winning streak is nothing if we do nothing in the playoffs. hopefully, he can do something about it.
T-Mac is wrong. Winning streaks get you easier outs in the playoffs. They need to keep on winning now so they don't end up with another bad matchup come playoff time.
Not this year. Throw conventional wisdom out of the window. Dallas and Phoenix could be a lower seed than New Orleans. We all know experience wins in the playoffs, so while the Hornets might end the regular season with a better record than those 2 teams, they're not necessarily a better team. They are not playoff tested.
I was just about to post the exact same thing. This year the western conference is tighter than ever......first round there is no easy match up PERIOD.
Not to mention that when we beat the Lakers on Sunday we will be #1. I thought the Rox schedule was tough in March. But if you look at everyone's schedule in the West, it is also really tough! So as long as the Rox keep clicking and win say 80% of the remaining games, they have a real shot of ending up in 1st place!
-------------------------------------------------------------------- exactly what i wanted to say, word for word.
we matchup best with the nuggets. whatever seeding that gets us against them in the first round im all for.
The bottom line is this: the Rockets are in "real" striking distance of becoming the number one seed in the West. When has that ever happened before? Has that ever happened before, even in the championship years? Folks, that's something.
Not in the championship years, we were a number 2 seed the first year we won it and a number 6 the 2nd year. DD
true dat. especially the last sentence. and it's all about matchups rather than the seeding. can't agree more.
I know fantasy is a temptation right now, BUT, about the middle of Jan. this streak was a fantasy, think about it.
lol @ the notion that the Rocks have any choice other than to win every game they can. how exactly are we gonna secure this favorable matchup?
If the Rockets can hang in at the number 3 spot, I'm good. It could still mean home court throughout given this year's atmosphere. And it keeps us out of a first round versus the Jazz... so long as they lead their division.
I don't think the jzz will be that bad of a matchup without Yao. Maybe its me though. Right now I'm not sure what team to worry about. Lets see how we play the fakers.
I would appreciate either one of these scenarios: Suns - L Nuggets- L Hornets - L Pistons - L or Suns - W Nuggests - W Hornets - W Pistons - L As long as the lose to the Pistons, the outcome of the other three games is going to help the Rockets regardless of the outcome. We are either going to move up in the standings or get more cushion as the number #3 seat. Great time to be a Rockets fan!
