Spurs next 4 games are: Suns Nuggets Hornets Pistons My BOLD prediction is we will be #1 in our division come Thursday night. I have confidence in our team and confidence in the teams the Spurs are playing. Bottom line is Spurs CAN be beaten. And if they can be beaten like a red headed step child, then these are the 4 teams that could do it.
I hope we get 2 because i am scared of GS when we don't have yao.I would rather play anybody else seriously.
It's not where you are with 18 games to go in the season. It's where you end the season. I would be ecstatic if the Rockets held on to the third position and faced New Orleans. Let's be realistic guys. It's not about seeding. We need to draw a favorable matchup. I would rather be 6th than 3rd if that meant getting a shot at playing the Hornets. JVG said that the Rockets can't win in the playoffs unless they face the Hornets. I love this run we are on more than anybody here, but let's get real. Most of this run came with Yao. Role players don't hit shots like this in the playoffs. Rim gets tighter. Legs get heavier. You need the big guy in the middle. The euphoria of the streak has us dreaming way too big.
Well all we had to do with them was feed yao. There center is like 6 foot noting.Yao would get 30+ on them easy.
Exacty, we're a much more versital team w/o Yao (at least against GS)- but Landry better get healthy quick or we'll be in trouble.
word. we need to play NO or Denver. Denver might miss the playoffs, so the weakest team right now is NO.
While Yao being out has nothing to do with it, I don't want to play the Warriors either. Don't assume they will stay the 8th seed. I expect Denver and Phoenix to battle for the final spot and the Warriors to vie with Dallas for #6 if we don't slip late in the season. I agree with JVG that the Hornets are the best 1st round matchup for us.
I prefer to play against SAS-GSW-DEN-PHX than NO, don't forget they were missing West today and they were close. CP3 is too much for our guys to handle especially being small inside.
no, you definitely need yao against a team like golden state, they're so used to running you can't beat them at their game, you need someone to take over in the paint on offense and defense to prevent them from running wild. without yao commanding double teams and getting wide open shots for everyone else, the warriors would double tmac and shut everyone else down just like they did against dirk last year; they are far too athletic to be beaten in a perimeter oriented game, which is what we've turned into without yao. i agree that NO would be our best matchup; the other teams are either too talented (LA, Utah, GS) or too experienced (SA, Dallas, Phx). though PHX and Dallas have been looking vulnerable after the trades.
I agree with you but I'm enjoying the buzz from the streak while it lasts. Unless we win in the 1st round, this is the highlight of our season.
If it was that easy why have we lost 3 of the last 4 against them, with Yao struggling to get good shots in all those losses?
This is why people who say regular season doesn't matter are idiots. Long winning streaks get you a high seed. High seeds mean easier matchups in the first round. Easier matchups in the first round mean less chance for heartbreak like we've had in the past few years. I'm definitely hoping they end the season with a top 3 seed. I hate that 4/5 matchup. It always sucks. Phoenix would be delicious.
