Could there be a deal in the works that is acceptable to GS? With Jackson suddenly adding Phoenix to his short list of acceptable teams, it makes me think that GS management may have approached him with the scenario for his permission. Adding Jackson, would give Phoenix a solid C/PF to go with the rest of their talent & might be enough to push them into the playoffs, after he works off the rust, of course. What could Phoenix be offering, without disrupting the core of their talent? I don't know the exact salaries, but this would be close from what I remember. How about this package?

Marbury/#1 pick or picks for Jackson/Fortson/Hughes

GS has been hot for a legitimate PG & Marbury fits that bill. They would also, not have to worry about the cap hit that resigning Hughes will cause. However, adding Fortson might be the deal breaker that causes GS to balk at the deal. Then again, they do have Murphy to put in that spot.

Phoenix would get a much needed boost in muscle up front, with solid rebounding & low post scoring to go along with Marion & Hardaway. Hughes has proven to be an adequate PG, but definitely a step down from Marbury.

This trade would give each team a starting lineup of:

    GS

    C: Dampier
    PF: Murphy
    SF: Jamison
    SG: Richardson
    PG: Marbury

    Phoenix

    C: Jackson
    PF: Fortson
    SF: Marion
    SG: Hardaway
    PG: Hughes

I think that trade would help both teams. Here's the article reporting the addition of Phoenix to the mix.

    Jackson would play for Suns
    BY MIKE TULUMELLO
    TRIBUNE

Marc Jackson, the forward/center of the Golden State Warriors, has added the Suns to his list of possible trade destinations, NBA sources said Friday.

The Houston Rockets gave Jackson a six-year, $24 million contract offer at the start of the season, a deal Golden State matched.

The Warriors are now able to trade Jackson and are seeking to do so. It is not known whether the Suns and Warriors are close to a deal, but Jackson's decision to add Phoenix to his list can at least allow trade talks to become serious.

Previously, Jackson had named only Memphis, Indiana and Orlando as teams he would agree to join.
Suns president Bryan Colangelo would not confirm any trade talks or even that Jackson has added the Suns to his list, but he added, "Any team that lacks an inside presence has been talking to the Warriors.''

This season, the 6-foot-10, 270-pound Jackson is averaging 4.9 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in just under 10 minutes per contest.

Last year, Jackson was named to the first-team NBA All-Rookie team after averaging 13.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game with Golden State.

while im sure swopa would be peeing his pants for that deal ... its mighty ridiculous to think the suns would trade marbury less then a year after giving up kidd for him. hughes isnt a real PG.. and jacksons not THAT good.

look im not trying to slam your idea im just saying that phoenix isnt trading marbury for a while n certainly not for hughes as the PG they r getting back. and btw yes fortsons a nice player , but hes still undersized n will need half of his rebounding prowess to rebound hughes misses.
