I am so sick and tired of every bloody product costing $29.99, or $49.99, or $199.99! Enough with the "99" bull****! We know that $19.99 is essentially 20 dollars! It is not going to influence us one way or another! Give me an even price (not $19.98) with tax included, and I will be happy!
well if you're gonna change it don't just change it to 20.00 cuz tax is gonna F it up anyway. Change it to 2.86 for 3 flat or if you wanna go up, 3.10 or whatever for 3.25. The problem is no one would go down to account for tax and if you go up to 3.10 then your competitor will stay at 2.99 and look cheaper cuz he has a 2 and not a 3 in front. So we're probably stuck with .99 for a while.
Anybody ever try those two tacos for 99 cents at Jack in the box? Man, those are good...
It'll stop when the government stops making all these damn pennies. I hate when something costs $?.01 and you have to break a dollar for one damn penny!
I hate gas not being $1.10, but instead being $1.109. It's less advertised, but I want the bang for my buck, not some 9 I can't see!
ZRB- move back to Australia! Since we scrapped the 1 and 2 cent coins years back, $1.99 is now rounded up to $2.00 Any price <$.05 (eg $1.94) is rounded down ($1.90), and any price >.5 is rounded up.
ZRB: It's obvious that you have never had any Marketing. That is one of the first things that they teach you about. When you advertise, marketers think that psychologically, consumers react better to prices that end in weird amounts like the $23.99 compared to $24.00. However, I think that is stupid and really a lame attempt by those marketers in trying to explain that.
Exactly what Manny said. I was a retail grocery buyer for years. They just want you to think you're getting a good deal. Even if after figuring out the retail cost of a product that came in, we had to round up to the nearest .09 or round down to.09 depending what the amount was. Silly huh? BTW Dollar Stores ROCK!!!!
Of course, every marketing teacher I've ever had still tells the "Chevy Novas didn't sell well in Mexico because No Va means doesn't goin Spanish" story even though the story isn't true. So even though I've been told that consumers will think that something that costs $9.99 is a better deal than something priced at $10, I am skeptical.
ahh.. good ole ZRB negative posts.. god i love them!!!! Damn sales gimmicks.. I SWEAR, they are going to be the end of mankind. You notice that everything is on sale? That bothers me too.. it gives women the excuse to buy stuff. I have already told my girlfriend a million times that just because something is on sale doesn't justify buying it. For the love of god, we must take out the .99 cents and limit the amount of sales a women's clothing store can have!!!!
so you guys like the dollar store? im not talking about those that have stuff for more then a dollar.... thats just not right.
