Rafer went from very underrated to so overrated in just one month.
That reminds me of Ben Wallace.

Like my post said, he started doing it around December 28th (when Mcgrady went out). That's over 2 months.

This, IMO, is one of the most underrated aspects of Rafer's game right next to his defensive play.

05-06: Started in 63 games averaging 38.6 mpg (19 games missed due to a non-chronic injury).
06-07: Started in 82 games averaging 37.0 mpg.
07-08: Started in 58 games averaging 34.4 mpg (3 games missed due to minor injuries).

In the two years prior to coming to the Rockets, he played in 162 games averaging over 30 mpg in both seasons. That's an average of 77.2 games played over a 5 year stretch (assuming he doesn't miss any more games this season). Not quite iron man numbers, but good enough to serve as an anchor on a team that is often not at full strength.

An argument could be made that Skip is a better fit for this team than a guy like Baron Davis, who has a history of not being able to stay on the court. Along with Battier he mitigates the risk that an injury to one of our stars will cause the team to completely fall apart.

Yes, I agree with u. Rafer's last two games was an all-star performance, but whether he will take that consistently, we must see a longer time, especially when rafer vs paul and williams!

Only PG I would trade Rafer for is Chris Paul of the NOH! Even then, I would demand for a first round pick from them :D

Kidd can't shoot. TMac (and Yao) are both more effective when they are surrounded by people who can shoot.

Kidd is a top 10 point guard all time, with another season or 2 left in him.
    Code:
    [B]KIDD[/B]
Season Team G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
    07-08 -- 60 60 37.2 0.380 [B]0.374 [/B]	[B]0.810[/B] 1.2 6.6 7.8 [B]10.3[/B] [B]1.6[/B] 0.3 3.57 1.90 11.3

    [B]RAFER	[/B]
Season Team G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
    07-08 HOU 58 58 34.4 0.410 0.346 0.652 0.3 3.2 3.5 [B]5.8 [/B]	1.3 0.2 2.12 1.70 12.6
Kidd's contract isnt worth it and I like the current chemistry, but come on people...

Even shorter term thinking is Rafer with consistent good play

I've been a dedicated Alston supporter since day one three years ago but lets not get carried away here.

At least Rafer's contract gives cap flexibility. And I like how you conveniently missed pointing out that Jkidd actually has a crappier FG% than rafer this year (isn't that a clue? I mean we were dogging rafer all last year about shooting crappy...so is JKidd). Like I said, JKidd 5 years ago was ten times as good as Rafer. Hell, 2 years ago. I'd never trade for him today though.

the answer would be yes in 2007

but now the answer must be NO

KIdd is too old now & now Alston is also one of the best PG

I like Rafer, because he is getting stronger mentally and technically day by day.

You are kidding right? Isn't getting Kidd, the definition of short term thinking?

I mean he is SERIOUSLY slowing down and not getting any younger.

This team has chemistry with Rafer and everyone is playing their roles, based on that, I would not make the trade.

Why not ask Dallas how much they like the trade now....of course you have to look several games down in the standings to find them these days.

    Rafer good player.
But a 1 for 1 trade with Kidd, AI, Parker etc.
You got to do the trade.

Rafer is not getting any younger. And his a well known chocker. I real hope he plays well, then rox can get a good trade out of him. Say a top 10 draft pick for next draft. :)

Why would you trade an integral part of a 17 game streak?

This thread has to be a joke. Ashton, come on out, where are you?

Rafer is playing good and he is an underrated defender but [B]come on[/B] he isn't anywhere near as good as those upper tier points. Les and Morey would give their first born and yes go over the tax threshold to get a Kidd, Parker, or AI for just Alston.

LOL this is definately overvaluing a Rocket. It's nice that you would trade Rafer for the three best PG's in the league. I would give Rafer for Parker in a heart beat and hope that the Spurs GM doesn't sober up till the ink dried

PGs I would trade Rafer 1-1 for (considering contract, age, talent, injuries, and chemistry).

    Definitely yes
    Chris Paul
    Deron Williams
    Jose Calderon
    Devin Harris
    Chauncey Billups
    Brandon Roy
    Tony Parker

    Probably
    Leandro Barbosa
Baron Davis (would be definite if he wasn't so injury prone)
    Gilbert Arenas (chucker)
    Jason Terry
    Kirk Hinrich

    Maybe
    Beno Udrih
    Andre Miller
    Maurice Williams
    Rajon Rondo

    Probably not
Jason Kidd (getting really old, huge contract)
    Allen Iverson (chemistry killer)
    Steve Nash (no defense)
    Mike Bibby (injuries)
    Juan carlos navarro
    Randy Foye
    Jameer Nelson (inconsistent)
    Earl Watson
    TJ Ford (injuries)
    Jamaal Tinsley

    LOL no
    Smush Parker
    Derek Fisher
    Anthony Carter
    Raymond Felton
    Nate Robinson
    Stephon Marbury
    Jason Williams
    Brevin Knight
    Jarret Jack
    Larry Hughes

    I think that's a pretty fair assessment?
