    OK, some questions
a.) from anyone who watched the game, do they agree? (I mostly depend on chat pbp for non national/free nba directtv coverage)
b.) why didn't espn cover the premature ejection of SF in the Utah game in the same manner?

    Did anyone else notice this?

"I told you it was going to be a show before the game," Francis said. "I knew it would be. Baron is a tough, tough player and Charlotte has a good point guard for years to come in him."

I TOTALLY agree with ESPN on this one. (Oh, Lord, I cannot believe I said that!) I was telling my wife in the first half that if the refs didn't get a handle on the game, it was going to get ugly.

There were HORRID calls made on both ends of the floor which, IMO, is why ESPN mentioned it at all. It was getting REALLY rough in several spots and both teams were having words with the ref in question.

I felt like, on the whole, it was a very poorly officiated game.

I watched the game and the officiating wasn't really that good overall. They blew calls for both teams. Cato got a couple really tough fouls called against him. One in particular, he was guarding his man who turned, blatantly elbowed him to get advantage of a clear basket, but Cato was called for a defensive foul. He also had a charge called against him that could have gone the other way, but it was a very close call.

NBA refs have a great job - they routinely blow calls and basically do a bad job, but they never get in trouble for it. The NBA never disciplines refs for bad calls or failing to keep control of a game. I wish I could have a job where it doesn't matter if I put in a good performance - all I had to do was show up and my boss is happy. Who else wants a job like that?

Haven't kept up with baseball in about 20 years but I remember baseball being better than the other sports. Of course, baseball is probably easier to officiate than the other sports as well.

I really don't care. Francis to me played better then Davis and I don't care about the officials. All I care is the Rockets getting the W. Davis dunk over Griffin was "Ugly!"

NBA refs are a joke. I don't think any other sport is this bad.

This is not quite true. The official who made the horrendous calls against Drexler in the 95 playoffs was unceremoniously dumped and never reffed again. I am quite sure other refs have been reprimanded but the NBA and their officials union is able to keep things in-house.

I just had a game today and the officiating was horrendous. It was what I'd call an officiating controversy! It was totally one sided. In the first quarter, the refs were great until the other team's coach went nuts about a call. He kept screaming at the refs and they didn't give him a technical. From then on it seemed like the refs were making calls only for that taem, cause they seemed like they were afraid of the refs. One play I got a rebound and tried to make an outlet pass, and someone on the other team held on to my hand so I couldn't pass. The ball went down and I picked it up. I tried to pass it again and the kid was still on my arm. The other coach yelled 'double dribble' and a second leader he called me for a double dribble. The guys on our team took like 5 charges, all of them were either none calls or defensive fouls. We were getting hammered all over the place. It was nuts. There were walks and every possible violation on the other team. They ref only made calls against us. One play a kid on my team got an O board. The guy on the other team tried to get the ball. But his arms around our players neck and threw him down. The ref was in perfect position to see that it was a foul and he called our player for a walk. There were about 15 horrible calls and about 20 horrible none calls. It was crazy.
