Born in Baytown (Eastside til' I die)!

I'm 31 years old and I've been a fan of the Rockets since the 84-85 season. I was 9 years old or so. My father took me to my first Rockets game and I remember asking him "Who is good?". My father pointed at Hakeem (then Akeem of course). I don't remember how many points he scored or even who they played, but I do remember that my father didn't lie. Hakeem was amazing and I became a diehard fan that night. Also, I've never played sports. I'm not interested in any other sports. I honestly don't think I'd even be a fan of basketball if it wasn't for the brilliance of Hakeem. So far as I'm concerned, seeing Hakeem play in person is the equivalent to having seen Beethoven conduct one of his symphonies in person. It was one of History's great works of art. :D

Anyway, I've done stints in Chicago, IL and Barcelona, Spain, and I'm currently living in Syracuse New York where I attend Syracuse University.

Raised in Spring Branch and now I live in Katy. I have been a fan since the 85-86 season. I still hate Larry Bird and Danny Ainge. I'm 30.

Been a Rockets fan since 1990. That's when my aunt got transferred for work down there. She would always send me memorabilia and such and they grew on me.

My last night with my Dad was at a pre-season game watching Yao in 2002. I had good friends in town but no one wanted the tix so I took my dad, and son to watch the game. The next morning he slipped, bumped his head and that was it.

    So, go enjoy your dad!

That's a great story! My own father took me to see several games the first season the Oilers played in the AFL. I asked him who was good and he pointed at Billy Cannon and George Blanda. Diehard fan until they left town. :)

Born in San Antonio, but raised in Wisconsin when I was young. In my teens I moved back to Houston, where my mom's family is from, in 1985 and that's when I became a Rockets fan.
One of my uncles was a diehard Houston sports fan and the other was a diehard Rockets fan (he didn't care much for baseball).
Saw my first live Rocket game in 1987 and had season tickets for the 1994-95 season (section 112).
I live in Las Vegas, which is laker country, but that has only hardened my commitment to the Rockets.

I've been a Rockets fans since that series with Seattle in 1992 when each team in that series won their home games. My friend had given me his basketball cards ( Ultra Fleer. Really nice cards ) and I simply wanted to know who was who. I didn't even know who Hakeem was.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island....Moved to Houston in 85 at the age of 5....I started watching the Rockets after Hakeem went out with a scratched eye...My moms boss let her have some of the replica eye goggles they were giving out at the summit. I have loved the Rockets ever since.

We all need to talk, I've been a Steelers fan since 1972 - Live and Die on Sundays with every play. Mahan and Simmons stink on the offensive line. They're going to get 102 Ben Murdered against a killer schedule next year.

    I've taken a strange path.

When I was 5, I moved to Arizona. For some reason, Charles Barkley was my favorite player, even when he was on the 76ers. My dad wasn't a NBA fan, but for some reason he would always mention Charles Barkley when the NBA was on TV...that's how I remember becoming a Barkley fan. Crazy enough, when I was in Arizona, I lived on a basketball crazy Indian reservation. EVERYONE out there loved basketball, and it was all we played during recess. Kareem Abdul-Jabar even became an assistant coach at the high school I would have gone to had my family stayed in Arizona. Well, during my time in AZ, the Suns traded for Barkley and it was the biggest thing in the world. The whole state, myself included, was an incredibly huge Suns/Barkley fan. I don't remember exactly, but I think my parents got a divorce during the playoff run that the Suns had where they went to the finals. My dad moved to Texas while my mom moved to Oklahoma. Well, I ended up living from 4th grade through HS graduation in Texarkana, TX with my dad. I still have a drivers license, etc in Texas, but I have spent most of my time over the past 6 years going to school in Arkansas. I remained a Suns fan until Barkley got traded to the Rockets. Unfortunately, this meant I did not have the joy of being a Rockets fan during their title runs. As a matter of fact, I despised the Rockets for eliminating Barkley. :(

Well, after the Rockets got Barkley, I became a huge fan. My earliest memory as a Rockets fan is rolling around on the floor crying after Stockton hit that shot in the WCF. I also remember the series where they went to 5 and Utah won. The EJ shot series. After Barkley retired, I had become so attached to the Rockets that I decided that I'd never root for another NBA team. Unfortunately, since I've become old enough to truly follow the Rockets day in, day out, I have never been able to experience the joy of seeing my team win a playoff series. If you asked my closest friends to give you certain facts about what I enjoy, the Rockets would be one of the first things they mention. I have even had some people make fun of me because I root for an eastern conference team to beat a western conference team ANY time they play because that is what is most beneficial to the Rockets.

Some of my best memories as a Rockets fan: breaking stuff in my apartment after the Rockets won game 2 vs. Dallas a few years ago. Giving myself a minor concussion falling down and rolling on the floor after Jim Jackson missed that 3 against the Lakers. Taking all of the cushions off of my couch and throwing them against the wall in celebration after T-Mac completed 13 in 35.

In the future: Seeing the Larry O'Brien trophy hoisted above T-Mac and Yao's head.
