To make matters worse, if he can't get open for an alley or free himself for a dunk, he's pretty much rendered useless on the offensive end. And foul shooting? If he was hitting at a 70% clip I'd call that respectable for a center but, no, he doesn't do that either. His effectiveness is the same effectiveness that Landry shows--explosiveness around the basket. But the big difference is that Landry is capable of hitting 15 footers and can actually make free throws. Amare: He's the whole reason why they traded for Shaq. In other words, O'Neal is there to cover up for Stoudemire's sorry ass. For a PF that claims to be the best, he hasn't even put together a single 20/10 season in his career. Even Antawn Jamison has time to pull down 10 boards after he finishes chucking for 3pt land. And how does he further hurts his team? You can't sit Nash for long while Stoudemire's out on the floor, otherwise, Stoudemire's game shrinks significantly. Gasol: He's a better post player that Howard or Amare. He has pretty good range for his height and is a good FT shooter. Gasol pairing up with Kobe added about 4-5 more seasons to his career. As for fitting in with Adelman's "philosophy" (i'm assuming your going towards how earlier in the season he wanted Yao at the elbow instead of down low), Gasol's passing skills is far inferior than Yao's and it would be the same thing with Yao--Gasol's effectiveness as a scorer is around the basket rather than 18 ft out.

We have a winner! rofflesaurus it took some time for Adelman to figure out his rotation and the players to understand their roles and the system…….. this plays a big part on how well a team will play. It just happened to be that once T-Mac went down that he figured it out and the team also started getting his system and the players just jelled, once T-Mac came back he adjusted his game to fit into the system. We are still a good team without Yao but not great, you’ll get this once we play the better teams.
No one on the Rockets right now I can think of can cancel out Pau or Duncan. Yao is the only guy who might be able to do that with his present in the pain and with help. THis makes Spurs and Lakers the most dangerous team the Rockets going to fear if they are to play against without Yao. Spurs is a defensive giant while the Lakers are a offensive giant. I don't know if we can match their buckets for buckets. We will have to play a flawless team game if we are to beat them.

The only quality wins we've had was against the Hornets. The Phoenix one was impressive but that was with Francis playing way over his head. The Cavs arent good, and I guess beating the Warriors is impressive since they've had our number (mainly because they run Yao off the floor). The point is I don't think we're much worse without Yao. In fact, I think we're a bit better and more efficient.
Clutch should lock this r****ded conversation. Obviously, no one (except a few resident haters on this board) including JVG, who knows more about the Rockets and basketball than any of us, agrees with the baseless claim that we are better without Yao. What I don't understand is how a 12-game winning streak with Yao doesn't prove we're a better team with him, but a 5-game winning streak after his injury proves that we're a better team without him.
