You know I've been thinking that Hakeem is the best player ever and I have seen a lot of stupid people saying that he is not as good as he used to be or that he isn't as good as Shaq or Tim Duncan or all these others ****** players that have no business even saying Hakeem's name. You know what I mean. You Know!! You know!! I think we should ban all Hakeem bashers from this site and in fact I don't want to see any of that **** around here.

there is a difference between disliking Hakeem, and living with the fact that he has been a gigantic source of our problems the last few years. He IS STILL the Dream, and he still gave us championships. But he still clogged the post for the last two-three years and made really bad passes. The last two years he has been slow as molasses, and that doesn't mean I don't love him to death.

I love the Dream! I have no doubt about it.

BUT the Dream has had his peak behind him. I have no doubt about it, too.

Saying that the Dream is no longer as good as before doesn't mean saying we hate or disrespect him. Even Hakeem himself admitted that he should have a lesser role on the team. He even said this team IS Steve's team.

Does it prove something when Hakeem himself is saying something like that?

Is Hakeem the best player in my heart? Very possible. At least he is the top 3. But the fact is he's no longer the Hakeem 5 years ago.

    Age kills! [IMG]

you know hakeem is awesome and all but there is atime when someone needs to step down. he is still a presence on the court but he is starting to slow the team up. his leader ship can be used maybe as an assistant to rudy.... i wonder what hakeem feels toward pippen and barkley. i wonder if barkley has influenced hakeem's work.if so then pip and drexler were correct..... who knows... but i hope he works harder to become a force again.
we'll see only in time we can tell

I love the Dream too, but lately he pisses me off. What pisses me off is he DOES still have the skills, but he does NOT have the heart of a champion. The man has no passion whatsoever. If a loose ball drifts by just slightly out of arms reach...oh well, he thinks; maybe next time it will be closer...but I'm sure as hell not going to extend myself or move my feet to go and get it. That's the job of some of these younger guys. The dumbest move the Rockets ever made was not trading Hakeem. If he wants to quit, FINE--just go do it on somebody elses team. Don't eat up all of our salary space, wasting our time, occasionally showing us the fact that you still have all your skills, but never putting forth the effort to win.

Hakeem has been my favorite player since his UofH days. However, it really hurts to see him on the court.

I sometimes wonder if I had a irregular heart beat, would I go all on the court when my heart rate could double or triple at any moment. Is it mental?

The only thing wrong with Hakeem is that he is OUT OF SHAPE.

He was unable to do any running when he was healing from his hernia surgery, and Rudy has not let him get enough minutes to catch a 2nd wind.

I think Rudy was ready to make this switch anyway.

The Rockets are too one dimensional, they need a low post option, and dream can most assuradly provide that.

    Go Rockets.

Ummm Dakota, Dream has been back for a month now. The games only last 2 and a half to 3 hours, That leaves 21 hours left in the day. If Hakeem were to sleep 8 hours that still leaves 13 hours. How long does it take to run wind sprints? He is being paid to be a professional basketball player. Get your ass in shape Hakeem.

BobFinn is right! Hakeem is in terrible shape and he earns too high of a salary to do this (OVER 10 MILLION A YEAR !!!!)

Hakeem should not put his team in this position or his career: just look at those old tapes a lot of us have of Hakeem tearing everybody up- he was an awesome physical specimen to behold.

You'd think since he will never have to work another day in his life after basketball that he would want to send his last few years of his career off in top physical condition. Afterwards if he wanted to he could even put up eye-sore parking lots next to beautiful new state-of-the-art baseball stadiums and it wouldn't even bother me! [IMG]

Grow up and face the facts. dream is a great man and once was a great player but is no where near the best now. he is still a good player but way past his prime.

as for the comment that he is overpayed. in a literal sense yes he doesnt have the game/numbers to deserve that salary. but what about all those years when he gave the rockets 2 championships, 25+ ppg, 3-4 blocks etc. he was way underpayed for most of his career and his contract is more of a thankyou / acknowledgement really. its sorta the same with jerry rice. jerry rice as som1 said wasnt payed for what hes doing now, he was payed for what he did for the past 10 seasons. cant say i agree with this policy but they do deserve a thank you of some form.

Pole, Dream is dead tired out there if he were to run for a loose ball I think he would pass out on the court. Somethings wrong with him, eiether hes smoking pot or hes anemia again, but something is wrong fa sho.

P.S. Islam doesn't approve of drugs so Dream smoking weed is not a possibility,

In this, our lottery year, Hakeem is still the second best player on the Rockets. He's just out of shape and Rudy doesn't play him enough to get back in shape. Cato looks like Hakeem as a freshman at UH. Cato has a long way to go.
Yesterday I saw for the first time the center from Texas, Chris Mihm, man he is impressive. He's the guy we should go after at whatever cost. This guy can play. Hopefully The Rockets can get that high of a pick that he's avaliable. Then Hakeem in his last year can teach him anything he needs. Imagine this roster next year:

    pg francis
    sg mobley
    sf anderson
    pf cato
    c mihms
    bench
    olajuwon
    thomas
    rogers
    drew
    bullard
    free agent
    free agent
this can allow us to grow with alot of young talent for the future. No big trades, or major free agent signings that
    will strap us for cash.
But we have to let Olajuwon leave on his terms. let him finish his contract as a Rocket. I still think that if he starts and gets back in shape, he's still one of top 5 centers in the NBA. Lets not do what the Dolphins did to the best QB in the history of the NFL, Dan Marino.
