Thats my fault for forming the thread wrong. This thread was not made for Chinese fans who loved the Rockets before Yao, this thread was made for Chinese fans who became Rockets fans because of Yao. I was interested to know if they lost interest in the team now that Yao was injured. I also wanted to know if they would still follow the team even if Yao retires.
yao in , i in ;yao out ,i out .simply! if yao left houston ,yao's team would be my host team ,Rockets would be my NO.2 favourite NBA team alteratively. but i will love Rockets for ever , because yao was made in Houston ! thank you ,Houston ! thank you ,Rockets!
This is a really good question. I've been a Rockets fan since 2002. I still rember that frist Yao-Shaq showdown in that winter. At the very beginning, Yao was the the only reason I wacted the Rockets games, or actually all NBA games. But now, I can say I'm a complete Rockets fan. Even Yao is out, I still watch the live or re-run of every Rockets Game. I like Yao and I also like every other player on the Rockets team. Scola is wonderful, Landry is exciting, T-Mac is always fun to watch, etc. It is Yao who introduced me to NBA, and because of him, I'm now a Rockets fan. I know someday Yao will retire. At that time, I hope Rockets can draft another Chinese player. Let's keep the bond. Without Yao, I'll still follow the Rockets. If they're strong enough to be a contender, Rockets will be my home team in the NBA. To be honest, I also follow some of the other good teams in the NBA, but to a lesser degree. For example, Kobe is someone you can't miss if you're a really baskeball fan. You would also like to watch the games when Spurs, Mavericks and Suns meet each other. But I don't think this is a guilt. Probably, most basketball fans will do the same thing. The only thing that makes us a Rockets fan is that when the Rockets meet any one if them, we'll root for the Rockets. As for the Bucks, I have to say the team sucks. I guess someday Yi Jianlian will leave that cold small town. That's not the place he should be playing. The team owner was vying for the money he can bring there when they forcibly drafted him. They failed to develop him into a solid NBA player. I'm seriously considering that mayby the Rockets can get him after Yao retires. He is so young.
This is a great thread. I'm glad to see so many people have become diehard Rockets fans through the years with or without Yao.
Before Yao came to NBA, I am a Bulls fan because Michael jordan.even after Micahael retired~~.Bulls used to be my NO.1 team. Now, With Yao ,I became a rockets fan! I don't think Yao would be traded to another team. Now, Rockets is my NO.1 team, Bulls is NO.2 If Yao were traded to another team, Rockets would be my NO.2 team, Bulls would be NO.3 Finally ,I HAVE A DREAM, THAT ONE DAY I COULD GO TO HOUSTON TO WATCH THE FINALS.~
No doubt rox still got lots of Chinese followers cuz 1. Yao's gonna be back next season 2. we already got used to it,maybe not watch the game but we'd like to know rox are doing fine. But honestly, I don't see this in a long run. I guess you are actually asking "apart from yao, what are you into the rox". I gotta say I love TMac, Landry and all, but let's face it, we don't have the best lineup in the league, not even on paper. So,what makes rox so special? IMO, despite the players, there are 2 things that a non-Houston native would care most 1. the way rox play 2. whether it can win the title. With 16 wins in a row, it would be nuts for me to judge the former, keep it coming guys . It's the latter that worries me most. Do we even want to win the title? I mean, all things considered, it's acceptable to be looking at the next season but cutting the salary just to save money is a totally different story. Maybe it's a misunderstanding but I heard that the rox's boss is pretty stingy. And I am not comparing him to that Cuban dude (BTW, don't you see a great marketing he got it going). Anyways, owing a basketball teams is one way to market your business, making profit would just be something plus. Please do focus on ROI not just the money you spent. Come on, take a look around the world.
I love Rox not only because of Yao, because it is a winning team, because it give us hope that they will finally bring a Champion to us! It's we not I!
yes, I admit it, I became a rox fan because of Yao. 10 years ago, I was Bulls fan, because of MJ. also I like KB too, I always love to watch Rockets vs Lakers, only I take this side now. I'm not gonna say that after Yao retires, I will still be a rox fan, like I liked the Bulls because of MJ, that's the truth. I mean, man, I'm in China, it's hard to choose a sucky team to love. I just want to enjoy watching NBA games, and all the super starts, after Yao retires. And, yes, Yi Jianlian is now playing for the Bucks, but I'm not a fan of the Bucks.
sorry: plus, I'm still watching every Rockets game now, if the game is not on TV, I watch it on internet. and I really enjoy watching our guys playing now.
I am still rooting for Rockets.(I have been a Laker fan for years, BTW). After Yao retires? I think I will still care about Rockets, not sure as much as I do now. Probably not, because I will have one less reason following the team.
Of course we do. My families are still watching every Rockets game whenever possible. When we can't, we read the box scores, game recap and the postgame news to find out every details. And the performance of Rockets has been a routine content to talk at dinner time. Even if Yao is not playing now, we wish the winning streak of Rockets can go on and on. I know more people will start to say this team is a better team without Yao if the Rockets keeps winning. But I'm sure Yao himself would rather see the team winning than proving his value by the team's loss. We as rockets fans in China think so too. By the way, Scola, Landry and Uncle Mu(what we call him in China) really did a great job, so did every other players. You know, if you have chosen to love a team, it's not so easy to move your emotion to another team. We(my family) do want to see Bucks win because of Yi on their team, unless they are playing rockets. It surely gives us more fun to watch NBA as we have Rockets as "our team" now.
Yao brought me to the Rockets and Clutchfans. And guess what, reading posts on Clutchfans has now become a part of my daily routine. It's like, you have to go to the bathroom a few times everyday - it is a necessity. OK, perhaps the comparison is a bit smelly here, sorry, but you know what I mean. There is no other NBA team which I know by heart the names of all its players, and how each of them is like. Each member feels like an extended member of my family, even though I am from afar. Yao or no Yao, it is hard to go against the emotions I have already "invested" in supporting this team... So yes, Rockets, please keep on winning.
please translete it into CHinese first. if Yao didnt play NBA,i think Lakers game would be broadcast most of the times.and Lots of us would be Kobes fanboys. i dont like Yi.I never follow him. When some program broadcast Bucks game,i will change anthoer.i would rahter watch CCTV1news than watch bucks game. Never heard cctv1news?haha
