Do you think the Nets could beat any of the following Western Conference teams in a 7 game series: LA, Sacramento, Dallas, Minnesota, or Spurs?

I dont. This may sound a little wierd, but I think the Nets have a similar problem to the Rockets in that their scheme is too extreme on one end (just completely opposite of the Rockets). In other words, they really have no immediate crunch time, one on one type player. It is solely based all off fast breaks and solid play-running. As can be seen from their record, this works, but you always need a solid one-on-one player, and, as the Rockets game shows, running too many fast breaks/plays can lead to turnovers (just look at the 4th quarter of last nights game)

The perfect mix is, obviously, the Lakers. The triangle system works great for them, they can and know how to fast break when necessary, they have good defense with a man in the middle, and most importantly, they have two players who can take over when everything else isnt going right.

This is really strange, but the best East teams (Nets and Bucks) remind me a lot of those Seattle/Phoenix teams of the 90's...They'll score a bunch of point and win a lot of games, but when they get caught in the half court games of the playoffs, their defensive weaknesses will start to show...

It's the Lakers world...everyone else is just paying rent...

I think so. This Nets team is deeper and more balanced then the 76ers team last year. And that 76ers team could have taken that series to 6 or 7 games if they had taken care of business late in Game 2, and hadn't rolled over and essentially quit in Game 4 and 5.

The Nets team is weak where it matters most versus the West's top teams - up front. Kenyon and Van Horn are both 3/4 tweeners and MacCullogh/Aaron Williams is no match for Shaq. They may be more balanced than last year's Sixers team, but they don't have the will or starpower to compete with the west.

Milwaukee, right now, is the only team I could see challenging out there. If Philly pulls it together the rest of the season, perhaps them. The rest of the East will likely have to wait a year - though Boston vs LA would be a nice matchup to see. Hard for the Lakers to defend, too.

I highly doubt it. They beat us by 9 at their place without Francis and then they were lucky to beat us last night.

A real playoff team like the Kings, Spurs, Lakers, T-Wolves would b****-slap these punks, especially Jefferson.

It's either no or hell no. I don't even think they'll make it to the Finals. As has already been pointed out, they have no go-to guy.

TheFreak; I totally agree with you. They have no go to guy. I don't think they'll make it far in the playoffs.

Hypothetical match-up against the 2nd best team from the West (beat the Lakers? In 7? *giggle*)

Vlade Divac vs MacCollough - Divac
Chris Webber vs Kenyon Martin - Webber by a mile
Peja Stojakovic vs Keith van Horn - Peja by an inch
Doug Christie vs Kerry Kittles - even
    Bibby vs Kidd - Kidd

Even in the starting lineup, there's only one match-up that the Nets have an advantage in. And unfortunately for the Nets, Kidd isn't the type who can carry a team by himself. I don't see him single-handedly winning a series.

If you want to evaluate the bench... it isn't even close. The Kings, with their bench mob, probably have the deepest and most talented bench in the league. The Nets... umm... Jason Collins, anyone?

    Kings in 5.

Geez.. I'd put Christie ahead of Kittles by a lot.
