Is it just me or does anyone else have a funny feeling in their bones with regards to this Indiana game? I mean, it fits all my definitions of a trap game for NFL and college BBall standards, so why not the NBA. 1. Trap games come right before a big game, when teams look past their current matchup to the one ahead. 2. Trap games involve underrated teams. ESPECIALLY inconsistent teams that play up/down to their opponents. 3. Trap games involve peculiar matchups, where one team just sometimes has the other team's number. I hope I'm wrong and will do my part to flame myself if this is the case. However, right now I'm really hoping Battier is speaking for the team when they're saying they take it one game at a time. Indy played us close the last time we met, and we might be letting up a bit esp. with the earlier news that Dirk will be out. Hopefully they realize that this doesn't mean their streak will just magically extend itself to 17.
Mentaly, I think we are ready to take the 16th win to make history. Now matchup wise, I dont feel this game is a given, especially without Yao. The Indy team always played us well. They only lost by 3 last meeting without JO and Tinsley only played for 10 min or so.
we are going in with a motivation of making a franchise record therefore we will be mentally ready and when you're mentally ready you know your shots will go in!!
i've been calling this a trap game ever since we secured the denver win... dont sleep on indy, they're pretty hot right now too... also i think the announcement that dirk will be suspended tomorrow sets us up for another reason to get caught looking ahead... hope we come out focused and take care of business!!
Both tonight and the Mavsh1ts game are trap games, now that Dork is suspended. We've been getting better now at handling these type of games though. Essentially a bunch of our games in the streak were trap games.
I don't think they will come out unfocused. Remember they're chasing/making history out there so their not likely to take it lightly.
This is the opposite of a jinx. A jinx would be saying "There's no way we lose tonight" or "I guarantee a victory" or "It's on me".
I've been a bit worried about it also. ... But to be honest, I have been for each of the last like eight games. It all just seems surreal right now. I never want it to stop.
wait a sec, deke is out? if so then that lessens our chances. it all depends on t-mac. if he comes out to play then the rest of the team will follow, but if he lolligags it we're in for a long night.
This team knows it's without it's best player for the remainder of the schedule. They'll take every game seriously until their standings in the Western Conference are set, then they'll take the first round opponent seriously. If we had Yao, yes, this is a 'Trap Game', but not here. Not today.
This will be a good game for the Rockets to test their new found swagger and continue to take each game opponent seriously.
Ok so I was very wrong, lol. And I couldn't be happier about it. The Pacers gave us a bit of a scare in the third but the numbers speak for themselves. The thing about Indiana was that if they shot lights out and we couldn't shoot very well, then they had a chance to win. We saw spurts of that, but in the first quarter when I saw how easily we were getting easy buckets I knew that it was only a matter of time before their shots stopped falling (ala Memphis v Tennessee in NCAA basketball), and sure enough that was the case in the 2nd quarter. Anyways, enough covering my hide, GO ROCKETS!
