well, you take it this way.. if you bet $100 on the Rockets winning it all, you can win $3000! http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-lines2mar02,1,3799878.story Bettors don't like Rockets' chances Since the loss of Yao, the odds on Houston's winning the NBA title have gone from 15-1 to 30-1. By Bob Mieszerski, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer March 2, 2008 Yao who? So far, the Houston Rockets haven't missed a beat since it was announced that center Yao Ming would sit out the rest of the season because of a stress fracture in his foot. One of many quality teams in the Western Conference, the Rockets have won twice since their big man was sidelined, running their win streak to 14. Their average of margin of victory has been 12 points, but oddsmakers don't like Houston's chances of winning a championship. According to Vegasinsider.com, the Rockets are now 30-1 to win the NBA title after opening at 15-1.
you can look it at it this way too. Yao Ming caused the odds to double for the Rockets! that's some real respect, when your NBA player changes the odds of millions of sports bettors. if we had lost Tmac would the odds double? hmm
Its going to be tough to compete in the playoffs without the low post presence that Yao gives us. Shows you how important an inside game is in the half court, playoff style basketball.
if we lost tmac, it would quadruple. tmac is still our most indispensable player. notice we have not struggled in the 4th quarters like we did even when tmac was out and the team was still rolling (remember that golden state game during the winning streak--we still nearly choked). yao has been our best player this yr; but tmac is still our most indispensable.
ummm, you could, but basically you'd risk $1000 at the chance of winning about $33 So if the Rockets won, you'd be about a cool grand, and if you win, enjoy that $33!
