Battier should not always be associated EXCLUSIVELY with "intangibles".
Sometimes he gets both done - tangible and intangible. Whatever it takes to get the "W", Battier will be there helping to get it done. Woot woot.

Gg. Good to see Battier hit 20 for a change. Good to see us shoot pretty well. Not so excited about McGrady's 6 turnovers (or Scola's 5) but in most cases, they weren't unforced turnovers, they were just trying to make really difficult passes, that had a chance of connected, but did not. Now for the pacers. We need this win. We can't overlook the pacers. We just can't. gg.

I see that rofflesaurus touched a nerve there. ANGER!

But seriously, to say that the Rockets are a better team sans Yao is just plain hating. When the Rockets were sluggish in the first quarter, they could've thrown it into Yao and gotten a great shot, just because Yao is so dominant. The Denver game could have been over in the first half had Yao been in the game.

In response to rofflesaurus, back when the Lakers were winning titles with Shaq and Kobe, people often critisized Shaq's pick and roll defense.

He would get lit up on a nightly basis if a team ran a pick and roll effectively vs. Shaq. Were the Lakers better without Shaq? NO.
They may have been a better perimeter oriented defense, but then they don't get his blocked shots or rebounds. Plus he made teams shoot jumpers vs. the Lakers. Not too many players could get lay ups with Shaq in the game.

Is Yao Ming good as LA Lakers Shaq? no, but he did the same things as Shaq did, except less dominant. He drew double teams, freed up his teamates, and got rebounds and blocked shots, and intimidated shots.

Now could you please admit that you were wrong about Yao?

If you can't admit that, tell us what exactly you would like to see from a guy who plays all year, who is 7'6, 320 lbs (most people that big can barely run or walk up and down a basketball court), and who has worked hard to get better in every statistical category every season, and plays through injures.

What would make you appreciate him? Why do you not appreciate him now?

Why don't you answer these questions for ALL of us to know...?

    Major props to Battier.

42mins, 5 3-pts, 2 blocked shots and 20-pts. Doing it all for the team. Not to mention he held Melo to 7-17 FG.

Tmac reallyy cannot let physical defenders get to him like that. If guys are playing u that tight, u should blow by them, not settle for 3's. He let Kleiza and Carmelo body him up without driving

I just hope TMac could keep his game as in the last two while stay healthy. He will be the driving force for the Rockets to go to the 2nd round in playoffs in 10 years.

It's the stupid format. We are 5th seed, but actually we should be 4th.

We have the fourth best record in the West. That's all that we need to know. Utah gets it cuz they are leading their division.. BIG WHOOP.

We'll be #3 by weeks end.

Deke got shafted in the official box score. They only gave him 3 blocks. It looked like he had at least 4. Two on Mello, one on Anthony Carter, one on K-Mart, and maybe another one. Long live Mt. Mutombo!

Didn't anybody to tell fata*ss carmelo to not eat mcdonalds before a game? Just because the rox are missing one of the all-stars does not mean they will lose.

Nuggets should be ashamed of themselves. They have 2 all-stars, 1 defensive player of the year. What do the rockets have? 1 all-star and 1 defensive player of the year who is no longer the best defender in the league (although still pretty good).

If Nuggets get BLOWN OUT by a team that only has 1 all star and is missing another, than they should properly rehire a coach. The talent that nuggets have just doesn't make much sense how they could lose to rockets. I know the rockets are a very good team, but they should not be blown out.

Go ROX!!. Lets go beat indiana for 16. We haven't been good against indiana lately, we REALLY haven't been that good. We may have won but they're not big wins, especially the one where o'neal was injured.

Call me crazy, but I think the Rockets actually have a chance against Dallas coming up. These Rockets aren't the same team Dallas played before, and I think there's a chance that the difference could be enough to throw the Mavs for a loop.

Also, in terms of the big Mo, there's no question that Dallas is on the way down and Houston is headed up.

Oddly enough I had the exact same thought--that they were really missing Yao in the paint in the first.

Scola's really creative under the basket though, and he looks more and more confident with each game.
