    We are definitely faster, but I wouldn't say we are better. Yao is irreplaceable. Although some teams too match up well when Yao is out there because they have STRONG and FAST big men.

    This team has been something special so far this season.

    Prove me wrong. We're much better defensively with Deke, and we probably have an equal if not higher offensive rating without Yao.

    I wish people could realize that. Tmac has NEVER had any real talent on his teams with the exception of Yao, and this year's team. He didn't even have Mike Miller in the 2003 series vs. the Pistons.

    Carmello, has had Andre Miller, Marcus Camby, Kenyon Martin, Nene, Kleiza, and A.I.

    Tmac has only been favored to win a series once, that was last year, which we lost by 4 in Game 7.

    Melo was favored once, vs. the Clippers, but they lost in 5, basically didn't even show up.

    Tmac does just about everything on the basketball court. He may not do some things all the time, but he can score with the best of them from anywhere on the court. He can pick apart defenses with his vision and passing. He can finish on fast breaks,and he can lock down on defense when needed.

    Melo, all he does is score. He can finish stronger than Tmac, but back when Tmac was 24, he was the 2nd best finishing guard behind Kobe, so that was because of injuries more than anything else. But Melo is a one-dimensional, but very talented scorer. But Tmac is a very talented OVERALL PLAYER. Thats the difference between the 2.

    The jumpshots are going right now. If we would get cold, you could always throw it to Yao. What happens now that we don't have the best post player in the game?

    I love the spirit of this team and I think this year could be the toughening and making of a 2008-2009 champ. Carl Landry and Brooks will get a chance to play and they will be major contributors next year.

    I am proud of this team and will still be proud of them when they lose to the heavyweights. In the end all you can ask for is effort, heart and great character. The score doesn't always tell the story.

    Ignore the guy, he has been trashing Yao all year. He was even trashing Yao during our winning streak. Anybody with a brain knows we're not better without Yao. On a side note, if the playoffs started today the Rockets would have homecourt advantage in the first round, vs Utah.

    We won 12 in a row with Yao in the lineup, and we have a losing record when he doesn't play. That alone proves you wrong.

    Rofflesaurus is definitely one of the known members of the anti-Yao faction of the board. I'll listen to his argument that we play better pick and roll defense without Yao; but to say that the Rockets are an overall better team without Yao is patently false. The post scoring and inside presence that Yao brings is extremely hard to replace - we're lucky to have Dikembe to cover the defensive side of the house. There is no true single replacement for Yao on the offensive end. The whole team is covering in the absence of Yao right now. As well as the team is playing now, Yao makes the team that much better because he is:

    a) a guaranteed double team for 95% of the league. The teams who play him straight up (New Orleans, LA pre-Pau) get punished for it;
    b) quite versatile with his range of offensive moves.

    Even considering Yao's biggest deficiencies (his lack of athleticism and semi-stone hands), his proficiencies far outweigh his deficiencies. I'll still take Yao 10 days out of 10 on this team.

    I respect rofflesaurus' opinion, but I feel that he is off base in this regard. BTW, rofflesaurus, why are you so down on Yao? Honest question...no setup at all here.
