Word, Will. He's playing under control and even shooting well. Somebody must be treating him *well.* Keep it up!
He is a big reason why we are playing so damn well...... BUT dont forget about Scola, the guy has been lights out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rafer has silenced major criticism lately...what a baller he has become. Arent older players supposed to get WORSE over time?
Wonder why our omnipresent Clutch has been so silent about Rafer as of lately..... I smell an affair going on......
'I'll tell you whos the best...Rafer!!!'-T-Mac during preseason camp. I think Francis and James coming here, and the off season 'sports papparazi' lit a fire under Rafer this off season. With T-Mac and Yao being injured it has given Rafer more offensive freedom. Also, he may just be a better fit in Adelmans system.
What happened to Rafer's floater? It is used to be a joke. Now it is semi-decent. Rafer is improving dramatically at finishing around the rim.
That's why you should always sign a bunch of PG's, sit them on the bench and threaten to take your starting PG's job away. He will always perform like it is his contract year. Morey indeed is a genius.
When Rafer plays like this, the egg on my face is matched only by the egg on the face of those who said Rafer was great/good/fine/adequate before he started shooting well. You can see how good the Rockets are when they have a point guard who hits open shots and attacks the basket, even if it's the guy that I said could never do it that is doing it. If Rafer is taking the shots (and he always will be), he has to make shots. It's not a "nice to have". Given Rafer's history, it's still a very fair question as to whether or not he can keep it up -- but this has certainly gone on for a long time now. Love the thread title by the way
The whole team is believing in themselves. The coaching staffs must've done something right. This is what you get when you have an outstanding defensive coaching from JVG last year and now we have a great offensive coach in Adelman. The best of both world.
During the win streak, Rafer is averaging 37 mpg, 14.2 ppg, 7.5 apg, 1.5 spg, only 2.2 tpg, and he's shooting 43% from the field and 38% from beyond the arc. Oh, and he's also playing good team defense, as usual. That's solid, if not spectacular, play from your starting PG. Rafer is a barometer for this team ... when he's playing well, we are capable of beating anyone.
i still think come playoff time, he will start sucking it up im upset aaron's minutes are gone now because it would be well worth to develop him come playoff time when rafer shoots bricks
Will, you are awesome. I haven't laughed this hard all day. Whoever is banging Rafer Alston, CLASSIC. Keep it UP Rafer
Rafer has come a long way. Maybe he reads the threads here. He had a really horrible turnover that made me mad tonight... but he made up for it with his high % shots. I agree, his D has improved and he did well on Iverson. His intensity is also higher... Lets not forget Landry, Scola, and Battier. All three of those guys deserve a thread.
So much for optimism. As for being upset that an undersized rookie point guard getting minutes taken away from him? That's a new one I haven't heard.
