If you had asked me this question couple of weeks ago, I would have laughed at you. But with the way they are playing and their upcoming schedule, this sounds like a legitimate question now. Tue, Mar 4, 2008 @ Portland Trail Blazers Wed, Mar 5, 2008 @ Denver Nuggets Fri, Mar 7, 2008 Utah Jazz Sun, Mar 9, 2008 San Antonio Spurs Thu, Mar 13, 2008 Golden State Warriors Tue, Mar 18, 2008 @ Portland Trail Blazers Sat, Mar 22, 2008 Houston Rockets Mon, Mar 24, 2008 @ Detroit Pistons Wed, Mar 26, 2008 @ Boston Celtics Mon, Mar 31, 2008 Denver Nuggets Tue, Apr 1, 2008 @ Denver Nuggets Sun, Apr 6, 2008 Dallas Mavericks Wed, Apr 9, 2008 @ San Antonio Spurs Fri, Apr 11, 2008 @ Houston Rockets Mon, Apr 14, 2008 Golden State Warriors Wed, Apr 16, 2008 Portland Trail Blazers 1) That schedule is downright vicious. 2) So far, Shaq trade has looked pretty bad, Nash looks like he has slowed down and the team looks lethargic. 3) Unfortunately for them, they are on a learning curve in the brutal West conference where the difference between first seed and not even being in the playoffs is 5-6 games. In light of all this, what say you? Do the Suns make the playoff this year or not? Added huge bonus: If the Suns don't make it, Rockets are almost surely in. IF they don't, this will go down as one of the worst trades in recent NBA history. They would have gone from one game away from going on to Finals and winning it all to not even making the playoffs. Steve Kerr for President for Spurs Fan For Life Club! First he gets rid of Kurt Thomas who gave Duncan a hard time. Then he got rid of Marion who was the only other player on that team that was interested in playing defense.
i see them going 6-10 trough this schedule. that should leave them in 8th (45-30). it will come down to the 7 games missing from this list i guess.
I voted yes, but Steve Kerr is an idiot. I knew as soon as he took the job, the Suns were doomed. Being Canadian, I feel bad for Nash. Now he'll never win a title.
If they make the playoffs, I would love to see them as a lower seed facing Lakers in the first round. So much drama... 1) Tables will have turned. Lakers will be the favored team now and will have home court advantage. 2) Kobe gets to face Shaq in playoffs. 3) Mike D'Antoni facing a Lakers team that has kicked his team's behind after he arrogantly mouthed off at the beginning of the season. Mike will be facing humiliation and PJ will make sure to rub it in.
IF the suns miss the playoffs this season and.... IF they struggle the first half of next season like they have been..... I can see steve nash being Gasoled by us kerr might just rationalize that their window has closed with nash and they need to rebuild around amare and get rid of both shaq and nash's contract... Thats where we step in with all of those expiring contracts... Steve nash/rafer/brooks tmac/head batman/green/novak scola/laundry Yao/chuck
Yes. However I think they will get lower seat and get kicked out of the second round. Kerr is an idiot.
I read somewhere that the Shaq trade wasn't really Kerr's idea. That he was actually one of the last people in the organization to go along with it. Apparently D'Antoni and Nash were the ones pushing for it. But I guess the GM should get the blame in these matters
i really think the Suns chance of dropping out the playoffs is increasing. Tough schedule ahead and lackluster play - lethal combinations.
wow and I thought our schedule was pretty tough...their schedule is almost unreal. I voted yes for them making the playoffs without looking at their schedule but now I really don't know.
Absolutely ridiculous. How is it possible that you play 16 teams to finish out the season and not ONE of them is below .500. They are finished unless the nuggets implode. I think we need to start thinking about securing the 5th seed (or better) instead of worrying about missing the playoffs.
They're gonna make it. I don't see them going lower than the Warriors and Denver. I would rather rule out Denver or GS before I rule out the suns. I mean they still have Nash, Amare, (half of?) Shaq, and a couple decent roll players. I think that's good enough to qualify for the playoffs. Now as far as the playoffs go, they're on their own. Like someone else had mentioned, I'm totally rooting for them to make the playoffs and face the Lakers. Never liked D'antoni nor Kerr. One is an ex-one dimensional player with no brains and the other is an incredibly overrated coach. It's kinda funny, D'antoni actually listens to these nonsense and starts to overrate himself. Ooohhh GOD I so hope he faces the Lakers in the playoffs. He'll learn first hand that talking mess with a coach who actually has 9 more RINGS than he does is probably a really bad idea.
I think they'll make it still. Tough schedule but I think they still have enough talent to pull it together and at least get a 5 or 6 game win streak going even with a schedule like that.
just watched the clip of Iguodala Scorches the Suns http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/nba/nbacom/news/iguodala_32pts_080301.asx Either it makes you appreciate the Rockets defense, or theirs just looks absolutely pitiful. Literally looks like their D's at All-Star game intensity. I know Iguodala played college ball in Arizona and has underrated all around game but he went Kobe-like near berzerk on them. Suns are currently 2 games back from the best record but only 2.5 in front the 9th spot. Too tough to tell cuz: - The Suns could find some consistency - the Rockets could cool off, come back down to earth and struggle on their last road stretch - Denver or Golden State can go on a hot streak of their own and pass both teams up - Denver if they lose tonight might get doubts about their chances and fold under, regardless of the 1-8 teams struggles. Basically teams 1 through 9 and almost 10 dont have problems. The team that does have problems might find themselves out the playoff rankings. You'd have to pick the Suns (outsiders might pick the Rockets without Yao) as the team mostly like to have problems...
Without Marion helping cover his back. Nash's defficiency on the D is getting exposed big time. The Suns are now getting killed by the opposing perimeter scorers. I think that is the Suns' biggest problem right now.
