Because then he would DEFINITELY not be able to play in the Olympics. With the chance of the Rockets making it to the playoffs in question now, that's a pretty long shot to forfeit the Olympics.

Plus, it would push his recovery time into the beginning of next season.

That's not what I want to hear. I don't want him going Grant Hill on us.

i don't think anyone questions yao's heart or how much he loves the rockets (whoever does is a hater).

it's just that in order for him to fully be healthy and have the energy to sustain a full 82 games + playoffs, he has to give up playing for china that is all.

Maybe he was miffed when Francis left and became a bigger Magic, then Knicks fan? Thinking of Francis on the Knicks makes me cringe. "Best player in the league" Starbury has cursed Francis :-( He's back where he belongs. I'm all for brining back Cat too!

Yao just doesn't deserve these injuries. He's been nothing but a professional his entire NBA career. Works his ass off for the Rockets and his national team?!? For what, how many years now? 6 or some ****? That's basketball at it's highest level ALL year, EVERY year, for 5 FULL years! Nobody has played more ball than Yao over the course of the last 5 years. And he's 7'6 300+ lbs, for effs sakes! With the absolute pounding the guy has taken over the course of his NBA career, it's a testament to his physical gifts that he's lasted this long! Then there's international play - dude gets pounded there, too! Bound to take it's toll on the body. Dude's gotta 'make some serious decisions in the next little bit. His legacy hangs in the balance.

I honestly cant believe someone that actually knows anything at all about Yao and his personality and his character would ever even think of questioning Yao's commitment.

The guy is a warrior, you can tell how much pride and drive he has.

I agree with Coach A, I feel more bad for Yao than the team or even us fans cause I know how much it means to him to be out there pushing for the best he can do.

Anyone that questions his commitment to the ROckets or his homeland is a mental defect that isnt worth reading or listening to....period.

damn, he swished THAT shot? isn't that from the 3pt line out? why couldn't he bury them in the asg? :D

sadly, after his surgery, he may disappear even from the sideline for a while...

Rest your shoulder and foot and thats it.

NBA Finals is a longshot, everybody talks about Finals and this team didn't pass first round since 97'.

If we are in the Finals, any chance Yao goes in for two minutes to get at least a basket?
