http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/travel-deals/529706 check this out. there was a better thread somewhere- cant find it. but people (alot of them) claim that if you tip 20 bucks while asking for an upgrade at check in, they will do w/o charging you the premium. it says that out of the 14 that tried it at the GN, 7 got the upgrade. can't hurt.. have fun
Man, I wish I knew this sooner. Last time I was in Vegas was also the first time I ventured downtown...and it was great! Unfortunately we had many things planned so we only made it there for one night. But everything downtown is cheaper, gambling is cheaper, odds are better, etc. Your money goes a lot further there. Coincidentally we saw the college bowl game teams (for whatever bowl game Vegas hosts) having an official dinner there and hanging out that time.
Just a family trip. I'll probably spend most of the time playing poker/blackjack, watching/betting on sports, eating, or hanging out by the pool. We'll probably go to a club one night. My girlfriend and sisters will care more about shopping and going to the spa.
Wow, RM95- I'm going to miss you by just a few days. I'll be there on the 23rd of May. Well, report back with what's good. At least I can get a feel for what's good at the time.
We'll be going to Vegas on March 8 to see Journey. They will be performing at Planet Hollywood that night. We can hardly wait to see the new frontman of the band. This kid has some serious pipe, a beautiful range and hitting high note effortlessly. Go to Youtube and watch for yourself. Journey just got back from Chile after two sold out concerts. The Chileans were stunned by the band performance , especially the new singer rendition of old Journey materials. We 'll be staying at Paris casino right across from Planet Hollywood. Thanks God , we got comps from different casinos each time we travel to Vegas.
late reply, but the sportsbook is small.. at least it's a room (unlike some casinos here it's just a betting window with displays behind it).. but it's nothing big at all.
the nugget is nice for a family trip, however all the shopping is on the strip. you should rent a car if you stay downtown. the cab ride isn't cheap from the airport and car rentals are really cheap in vegas.
you going out for CTIA in April? years past we've stayed at the westin, small casino, but nice and quiet. at CES this year we did the platinum, just across the street and i heartily recommend it- no casino, HUGE rooms, with hot tub, balcony, washer/dryer, etc. nice bar downstairs. no smoking. reasonably priced too.
not sure what you mean by flip a coin. hold on to your 20 bucks, put it on the table... ask for an upgrade. when they see the money, they know what ur trying to do- and either they'll bite or they'll say that no upgrades are available.
But wouldn't you have to pay for parking wherever you drive to? Regardless, my parents are going and they're driving from Phoenix, so that's not even an issue.
I stayed at the Nugget last April. It was suprisingly nice. We booked a last minute trip to go to a larget convention and the Nugget was the only hotel with availability. The food was pretty good there and the pool is also cool with the shark tank. Even the casino was good because they had a lot of $5 blackjack tables. Not to mention odds are better downtown. But we had to drive to the strip which sucked. I would rent a car...do not take taxis in Vegas. You will wait an hour in a line for a Taxi...it sucks. I suggest rent...it's worth the money in time saving alone. If you can stay on the strip you will get a better Vegas experience...but for downtown...the Nugget is the best.
No, parking at casino garages are free. Take a car over a cab if you can. BTW, some limos will take you to certain strip clubs for free because they get comped.
