Didn't see this posted anywhere lock if needed. Assault charges in New York against Rockets guard Rafer Alston were dropped on Friday, Alston’s attorney Al Ebanks said. Alston was charged in August on assault charges from an alleged incident in a New York club. On Jan. 3, the case was adjourned until April, until the district attorney’s office asked Friday that the charges be dropped. “We went into court and the DA office indicated that all charges be dismissed based on their investigation,” Ebanks said. “They did not feel this is a case that should go forward. They understand the case has no merit. We’re obviously pleased with the outcome, as pleased as can be when the case had no merit and understand should never have been charged in the first place. “The person who brought the charges against him is a liar in the highest order. For whatever motivation existed for this man, he made this terrible charge.” http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5581786.html
I was afraid we were going to miss one of the greatest point guard performances in playoff history. Free Rafer
Not that I doubted Rafer, but this is good news. We don't need anything else happening to one of our players.
As much heat as Rafer Alston gets, he really seems like a nice guy. Not one single behavior problem since he has been with the Rockets. Everyone on the team loves him and Rafer seems like a real classy person. Whatever problems he had in Toronto and with head coach Sam Mitchell must be long gone, because I haven't seen one negative thing when it comes to Rafer's behavior. We Rockets fans should be fortunate that everyone on the team loves each other and cares about one another. The chemistry looks like it's one of or if not the best in the league.
Who would have thought that Rafer would have much a good season last summer? He has really turned it around this year.
Yeah he'll always be better known as Skip 2 My Lou, but he's really become a solid NBA point guard. As JVG has said on more than occasion, Rafer and Shane are the team's glue. We're lucky to have them both.
The question is: Will Rafer continue his assault on the court for all the naysayers who don't believe he can lead us to victory? Ouch- the pain of ham-handed segueways. "No, Clarice, that just won't do."
They should arrest the guy who brought the charges against Rafer for filing a false police report which pinpointed Rafer as the stabber.
