Could Kevin Durant shoot his way out off ROY? Is ROY a different award than MVP? MVP means most valuable player, or when that player is not playing the team loses and when he is, he makes everyone around him better. ROY is more o f an individual award, ie. like Scoring Title where perhaps the rookie that averages the most points may end up with the title. Kevin Durant's averaging 19 points per game but with FG .398 Lois Scola's averaging 8.9 points per game but with FG 0.526
Al Hortford is averaging the same points per game as Lois Scola (Luis) but makes a lot less of his shots. What I'm asking is, what is the criteria for ROY? Scola arguably has a greater impact on his team than Hortford on his.
dude please edit your post so annoying kneejerk fans dont pick up on those possible nicknames you have mentioned above for say anytime any of our rookies has a bad game or something. McLady is bad enough already, no need to give people any help with the idiotic nicknames. BTW this is nothing against you just that I dont want the GARM to get any worse, in face I enjoy your posts.
Well, Scola is supposedly going to have more shots from now on, if Adelman allows him, because he is playing the same as with Yao. If that happens and scola starts shooting around 15 shots per game (taking 7 of Yao´s shots) he may end up scoring about 0.529*15*2 he could end up scoring 16 ppg, add 2 FTM per game which is fair and he ends up scoring 18 ppg over the last 25 games he will end up averaging 11.6 points, let´s say he goes out of his mind and ends up averaging 13ppg he will still be 6 points down on Durant which sill make it difficult but doable, but below anything unprovable.
Durant is going to get it simply because so many media types hyped him up to be something he is not. They don't like eating crow. I don't follow college ball so all I saw of him was maybe a half dozen highlights but every time I read about the kid he was being anointed as an NBA god before he even stepped onto the court. The comparisons to KG and Tmac were everywhere you looked. I have now seen 3-4 Sonics games and I just don't see the promise in this kid that I expected. Can he be good or even very good? I'm sure he can but he is lack of athleticism shocked me after hearing him being compared to two of the best athletes to ever play the game. For those of you older than 25-26 doesn't this kid remind you of Danny Manning?
possible only if Scolar has Yao's stats from now on, 20+pts, 10+rbd, and Rox ended up in top 4 seeds in the west
Exactly. He's the media darling, so he'll get it. Truth is there is no eye-popping rookie this year WITH monster stats. The award is much more meaningful when there are actual franchise rookies that hit the ground running. When that doesn't happen it pretty much becomes ROY by default or ROY by popularity contest.
