He got bought out by the T-Wolves and is reportedly expected to sign with Detroit. In the wake of Yao going down, I'd like to see the Rockets make an offer for his services.

    Thoughts?

Sounds like he is already gone but I always thought Theo would be a good fit on the Rockets. I haven't seen him lately. Does he still have Game.

He seems able to give us up to 20 minutes, it´s a good defender and average scorer, like him.

Maybe we could make a push.

I think Ratliff would be great pickup. With him and Mutombo together makes the Rockets more tougher.

I kind of meant a bad idea, with that photo.

But Theo was a player I always really liked until I saw him on a few teams *in a row* that desperately needed an inside presence but would or could never play him.

Take a look at his career stats

He peaked circa 1999 (and look as those BPGs!) but he hasn't played a full season worth of games over the last THREE seasons. He seems to be circulating in part due to his weird contract. So no offense to Theo, but he probably has a lot less tread left than Deke at this point.

Insurance policy and Ratliff go hand in hand, but not in the way the Rockets are thinking.

I saw him play a couple of games recently and he looked surprisingly good.

I thought he was complete toast and there he was looking like he used to look, what? 10 years ago?

Of course it could just be an abberation(in limited minutes no less), but eh, if we signed him it's not like it'd be some big commitment.

He can still rebound and block shots, We really need another big body...

I hear ya B-Bob. He isn't exactly the spokesman for consistency or durability. I figure he's a low risk, high reward, a Morey-type of player at a position which we have a clear need. Paired with Deke, he'd be looked to for ~25 games + playoffs (if we make it) in which his role would be to rebound, defend and make an occasional basket. Out of anyone available, he seems like the perfect option and again, he's low risk, high reward.

While Yao is out, I do feel that the Rockets need an athletic tall big man....at least 7 or 7'1 like a Tyson Chandler type with good hands.....Deke can't play the more than 20 minutes a game at 41 yrs of age and be affective....We don't need a scorer just a rebounder and shot blocker....One of the posters mentioned a guy in the D' League named Charles or Stephens or something like that....he has good size....7'1 and 260 lbs....

Seeing as the Pistons aren't going after Davis anymore, maybe we should. I have a feeling we will end up playing the Spurs or the Suns in the 1st round and someone like him will be needed to guard Shaq and Duncan!

Hopefully, Morey will wait for Francisco Elson to be waived...he's another ex-Spur that could be another steal...can shoot and a big body to be thrown in the game..

Okay, I am down with Theo now, in terms of risk/cost ratio. He might even be a smarter signing than that Kings guy who is full of hops but not seasoned yet. We need someone we can plug and play. Elson could work too.

I've always liked Theo and feel pretty bad for that car wreck picture now. :( :)

Even if Francisco Elson is waived today, he won't clear waivers in time for us to sign him for our playoff roster. Correct me if i'm wrong...

They should give Gary Nightwagon a look. He's been playing well in the NBDL.
