Oh and dont expect any drunk posts from me at 2 am. I wont be bringing my laptop, although I do expect to be in rare form.
you beat me to that one!! Hey Drew, one of my ladies just called me wanting me to hang out tonight because she is headed there this weekend too. If you see a cute lil 5'2" blonde haired free spirit hottie from Austin there, be nice.
I have always liked Burbon Street Blues Co. Its on a corner on Bourbon street. Cool bar. Make sure you check out St Charles street. Lots of neat parks and stuff. Also, be EXTREMELY CAREFUL. NO is the worst city for muggings and crime, etc. Don't get off the beaten path. They love to take advantage of drunk visitors. Buy some beeds before you go. You can hand those out on any weekend there. Just buy some then start shouting from a balcony. It works any weekend. Buy before you go. You will thank me later. Also, be careful of the boys who will be girls. NO is full of them.
Check out the Rock -n- Bowl, in Metarie, near the Saints' practice facility. It is a music club built above a bowling alley. Thursday night is zydeco night and alot of fun. Also check out the original Tipitina's in the Garden District (NOT the one in the French Quarter) and be sure and rub the head of the bust of Professor Longhair (located in the entryway) for good luck. The original Tips is one of the best places to see music in the country.
eat at NOLA's...it's one of emeril's places, and it's amazing! eat beignets in the morning at cafe du monde...it's hardly a trip to New Orleans without a stop there.
stay at the hilton riverside, it's a lot better than those regular hilton hotels and it's the biggest hotel in the south...oh yea, and it's right next to Harrah's (big ass casino)... http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/index.jhtml;jsessionid=BOBCJA5NQEVOLJ31AOQ2JLQ?ctyhocn=MSYNHHH
you absolutely have to walk down bourbon street , but past all the crowds. past that kereoke bar "the cats meow or something like that, anf just keep going. the further you go the better sure you may see more men asking you to flash them, but come on, when in rome... and past that there are some real nice neighbouthoods where the people are friendly and some will even ask to share your shoes or kidneys. moral of story. dont walk too far down bourbon street. unless well you want to. go to the D-Day museum
