Or in other words, if a time machine is invented and you had the opportunity to go back to any historical era or age, which one would you visit?

For me, it would have to be ancient Rome. It would be amazing to see things like the Colosseum after the first year of being built or watching events in the Circus Maximus (which held 250,000 people). Also, it would be interesting just to see how Rome exerted its power over all its dominions.

That would be my #1 choice. The second choice would be to go back to the Renaissance, specfically Florence, Italy around the mid 1500's and see some of the greatest works of art of all-time freshly completed like Michelangelo's David or Da Vinci's Mona Lisa or Raphael's School of Athens, etc.

Although we live in a world today that has seen rapid advances in technology, I doubt that we will ever figure a way to go back in time. But in the meantime, we can dream about it, can't we?

I'd probably go back in time when man first came about (I believe in evolution) just to see where we all cam from or I would go back to the age of the dinosaurs to see what they really looked like. I have to admit though your ancient Rome choice is a very good one.

We just played a game called "Loaded Questions", and we got a question like this.

My short answer would be to go back to when Jesus was on Earth...I'd like to straighten some things out, end some arguments.

    :)

Wow! I can't believe it! I agree with Manny!

My first choice would indeed be Ancient Rome. It's amazing how complex their society was so long ago. Seeing the ruins in their original forms would be incredible.

I'd love to see the dinosaurs. Some point a hundred million years ago would be interesting to see.

Also, I'd like to go back to June of 1995, and see the Rockets win the title again.

If you really want to do this Rm; instead of Jesus' time, you should go back to when Isaac and Ishmael were born.

The late 90s were pretty cool. NYC or Chicago around 1976-1983. The late 50s.

I'd go to Springfield, Mass in the late 19th Century, when Naismith invented things, and DOMINATE.

For reasons of pure fantasy and unadulterated selfishness:

I'd like to go back to when and where the Vikings were dominant.

I'd also like to go back to the Dark Ages, and be an iron-fisted, but fair land owner and conqueror.

    For more philosophical reasons:

Going back and smacking Eve's hand (as she's reaching for the fruit) would be nice.

Walking with Jesus would be amazing.

Seeing the (Egyptian) pyramids built would be cool.

Walking through a thriving Chitzen Itza would be cool.

It really depends WHO you get to be. King or peasant, Pharoh or slave, Lord or serf, Sultan or Eunick (sp?), Joe Namaith or Leroy Neimann. Big difference.

I'd go back to 10,500 BC and see if Atlantis really existed. If it did then I'd tell them that a flood was about to wipe them out, laugh, and then leave.

Or I'd go back to Rome, bring a really big gun with me (and about a million rounds of ammo), and say that I was Mars and take the place over.

Any point in Christian history would be interesting. Being there with Adam and Eve or Jesus, Mary, and Joseph...the list could go on. It would be nice to know if our religion, or any religion were correct.

I agree, ancient Rome would be interesting and magnificent, for their society and their gods. Ancient Greece would also be a high choice for me. You could meet all the great philosophers (Socrates, Plato, Aristotle), see some great plays, witness a few wars (Trojan, Peloponnesian) and interact with their gods.

Another good time for me would be colonial America right before the revolution. I would love to meet the founding fathers and see our country being made.

It's a tough question. I guess part of my answer would depend on if you get to just witness the time or participate in it. In general, any significant political or religious period would interest me.

I never really got into the Beatles, and I feel I missed something.

I'd like to go back and grow up with them.....and then twist off and get heavily into the Doors.

I think I'd go to about 10 minutes ago, before I finished off the pineapple in the fridge . . .

About 600,000,000 years ago at the beginning of the Cambrian Period when life exploded. I would need a submarine so I could go down in the ocean and see all the weird things that lived down there back then (what a dork).

Also, any time T-Rex was alive.

Rome would be a good choice.

Finally I'd wanna try the 80's (I was born in 81 but you don't really notice much) so I could have the radio play all 80's all the time and get to watch Cheers for real, not just reruns.

edit: Oh and I'd wanna be in America for VE and VJ days just to experience that euphoria.

I think who you are or what you go with matters a lot. Id like to take a gun back into time and prevent the sale of Babe Ruth, Id like to speak with Jesus, Id like to go to the 80s and invest heavily in Intel and Microsoft.

I'd go back to Orlando, Florida 1998 where I'd join N'Sync, start dating Britney Spears, quit N'Sync after making some dough, dump Britney Spears, then buy out University Coop Bookstore.

My head hurts. I don't know what I'm thinking.

I would go back in time to the 1960's in London and hang out with the Beatles, Stones and Jimi Hendrix. More likely, I would go back in time to Houston in the 1960's and hang out with the Hobby's, Ron Stone and Marvin Zindler.

You b*stard, you beat me to it.

    Scenario #1:
I'd go back far enough to purchase an ass-load of original stock in Apple, IBM, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc. Of course, when I went back in time it would have been with a current sports almanac. I'd have then gone to Vegas and cashed out the whole damn town. Once I'd satisfied my greed, and I was the richest man in the world many times over, I'd have bought the Rockets and traded Sampson for MJ.

    Scenario #2:
Go back and steal Hugh Hefner's idea.

    Scenario #3:
The Renaissance. Italy, France, who cares? just everywhere and anywhere, really.

I'd love to go back and actually hear composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, etc.

If I had a time machine, I'd sure as hell have stopped Jimi from choking on his own puke; I would have stopped Stevie Ray Vaughn from getting on that helicopter; Randy Rhodes from getting on that plane; I'd have pushed Yoko in front of John....

All that aside, the absolute first thing I'd do is see my dad just one more time....

Well, I do like the present, but if I had to go back to a past time, there are things I'd like to see, but not necessarily live there . . . I'd like to see the pyramids being built, but living in Egypt doesn't appeal to me . . .

I'd love to go back and be at the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
