*We get another year for our guards to work with Adelman's Offense. *We have attractive trade assets/expirings that could snatch us that 3rd piece we have been craving.(PG) *We can give long looks at Landry,Green, and any other young guys we want to bring in(Mike Harris please!) *Hopefully Yao stays out of the Olympics and can get some rest this summer to come back stronger than ever.(Imagine what he could do on a good foot!) *And finally maybe we can take a look at this years draft(should be a deep one) Last year we added Carl and Brooks, maybe Morey can work some more magic with an even higher pick..... We need to reload, and fire back with a revamped roster next year.....
i agree with your outlook for the future....my only question is if tmac will be with the rockets next year...now with yao out its unlikely we make it out of the 1st round if we make the playoffs....does that mean tmac is out?? or does the front office give him a pass because it is without yao.....i really hope he stays and we continue to build on this team...this 12 game streak shows us how good this team can be when healthy
There is no way that Yao will stay out of the China Olympics. He will play in a wheelchair before that happens.
We will never get equal value for Tracy, and his passing abilities are one of a kind. I think we should just continue to surround Yao and Mac with talent.
Actually I think this gets T-Mac off the hook big-time. I never liked the idea of trading him anyway, but you can't blame an eventual first round loss on him this time around with Yao out. I do agree that the Rockets could really take off next season barring injuries and the return of the key rotation players. Plus the West is likely to be easier next year with Dallas, Phoenix, and San Antonio all being older. Best case scenario now for the Rockets would be a strong close to the regular season sans Yao and a solid performance(i.e. a 4-2 or 4-3 loss) against our first round opponent. That gives them momentum going into next year. Oh, and someone get China on the phone and tell them to give Yao the damn summers off. He's never gonna win crap with us if he gets winded or hurt every season.
This isn't going to really help our draft position (it will be a mid first round pick, regardless). And Yao will probably play in the Olympics too. He basically needs to be in a wheelchair for him to miss it. It is being held in China, after all.
Seeing what Morey did with a couple 30's picks I am very interested to see what he could do with a 12-16 pick....
I've thought the same way about the injury to Yao, I'm trying to remain as optimistic as possible. Hopefully the Mavs and Suns and maybe the Spurs start to decline heavily next year due to age, that would be swell as well.
