Stage6 to shutdown

    This is a very sad day for people who love GREAT quality videos on the net. Stage6.com is going to shut down on the 28th of February. They have already turned off the uploading ability and the ability to view videos ends on Thursday. :( Not much of a heads up from the admins of the site. :(

    Crap, all the best eps of tv shows online are hidden on that site. The video quality blows youtube and it's clones out of the water.

    Truly sad, but not terribly surprising. Almost all the videos they had were large, high-bitrate files: their bandwidth costs had to be gigantic. Not to mention the whole copyright infringement thing.

    only been on there a handful of times, but it the video quality of the vids far outdistanced other sites. youtube flv format sucks.

    definitely was a leader in quality video's, but it lacked content and the search sucked.

    As mentioned in the note, the DIVX format remains, and that is the good news.

    Anyone know of any other websites that take advantage of divx webplayer?

    I really am bummed that stage6 is going down. I love it, have been with it since it's first opening to the public.

    Looks like the site is still up, but when you click on any videos to download, it just goes dead. Slowly, but surely, it's going away.... :(
