I really don't know what to think of this. Yao is way too valuable to this team. Having said that, we survived Yao being out last season with the help from Deke, McGrady, and Juwan Howard. The bad thing is, we don't have Howard anymore and Deke has struggled with Adelman's offensive system which is why he's out of the rotation. The good thing is, we have Landry and Scola who could be as effective or even better replacements than Deke and Juwan were last season. Our season really has come down to relying on ROOKIES.
I keep attempting to put a positive spin on this. Scola takes over primary post duties and shines. Gerald Green gets meaningful time as a scoring punch off the bench. Landry and Hayes become the Junkyard Dog Brothers off the bench. And then I realize Yao is out for the season and I begin to cry again.
this sucks....but we know mutombo still got his rebounding in him so he will make up for yao's boards but not his points.... and hopefully GREEN will get some playing time now because he anxious to play for the rockets so he should produce
unfortunately this is a type of injury that will only get worse if he continues playing on it - the pain will increase, and the fracture will grow larger and may result in a complete break. definitely a bad idea.
just heard this on the radio too. OUT FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON AND POST SEASON....why basketball gods, WHY?!
It sure will be tough for us now if we do make the playoffs. Every playoff team in the west it seems has a big 3, but now we'll only have a big 1.
How serious is a stress fracture? We all know Yao recovers quickly and often comes back before they anticipate. Hopefully he can recover soon enough for teh playoffs (if we get in without him)
A lesson to learn, Rockets should never ever play Yao over 35mins again, 32mins is better, find him a backup!!! Yao leading by mins per game in this team is wrong!
Im just speechless - what timing and now we will never know just how good this team could/would have been this year....
Honestly, this makes me love Morey's trades that much more. Going 'all in' is stupid, when you have 2 stars that are prone to injury.
this is horrible, and check out ESPN comments from other teams fans...they're all congratulating us on yao going down. it's the lowest class thing i have seen since utah fans booed derek fisher
