I also read its between the Rockets, Suns and SA. He was said to be pissed about being included in the trade by SA, so I don't think he'll go back there. I also read that the Suns offered him a legitimate spot in the rotation, I haven't read anything about the what the Rockets have offered as far as minutes go. That said, I think its between us and the Suns. On the Suns he's got guaranteed minutes and since they don't play any D all he'd have to do is run and shoot. The Rockets have history with his family, we are closer to his wife and kids in SA, he'll be getting a lot of open looks in our offense, like in PHX, but he'll at least have to pretend to play D here. I also read the Rockets offered him a 2 year deal, not sure about the length of the Suns deal and not sure of any playing time guarantee with the Rockets. Personally, I hope he ends up here, he'd be a great pick up for us.
Phx would be a perfect fit for him unfortunately, and they really need him. They no longer have a ton of dangerous shooters on the floor. Grant Hill taking three point shots for them? Yikes.
He really said he was pissed. I heard he said he was surprised but not pissed. Anyway here is the latest from Phoenix. azcentral.com "I've spoken with Brent and his agent (Arn Tellem), and we feel we have a shot at getting him," Suns General Manager Steve Kerr said. "We've reached out to him, and he knows what we have to offer."
I'll be stunned if he comes here. Phx seems to be the best fit and the team that has the most need for him. San Antonio is the best of the three teams where he knows his role and has won rings and his family lives there. We aren't as good a team as SA, hard to know really compared to PHX, but hey, at least his dad and brother retired here! His minutes would also likely be as limited here as they were in SA. To me it's PHX>SA>HOU
I thought he couldn't sign with SA until 30 days after the date of the trade...And, isn't the last day of finalizing your playoff roster this Saturday. If that's the case, I don't think SA is a feasible option for him.
If I was him, I'd go back to the spurs. The spurs are the defending champ and as usual are on their 2nd half roll again.
If he is truly pissed at the Spurs, then he will make a move either here or PHX, to punk them. He's already got his rings. Think about it. What would mean more to him, winning another ring in SA or winning another ring somewhere else after SA traded him. I think the opp to win a ring and punk SA at the same time may be enough to drive him to us. And if he's smart, he will come here. It's closer. And there's no way you can look at the two teams right now, us and PHX, and think that PHX has a better chance to win than we do, especially when he adds himself to the mix. PHX is getting exposed, there's no guarantees that Shaq is ever gonna fit in, Shaq is old and getting older, and PHX really lacks quality depth. Barry's gonna be coming off the bench. Would he prefer to come off the bench and be teamed up with BJax, Landry, Scola, etc. or would he prefer to come off the bench and be teamed up with PHX's second unit? I can make a great argument for Barry coming to Houston. I can't make as much of an argument for him going to Phoenix, just can't do it.
Yeah? Big deal. Yao Ming. Tracy McGrady. Both selfless and more than willing to give it up to a wide open 3 point shooter or cutter.
Not to get into an arguement, but I personally would rather play with Nash any day of the week over Yao and T-Mac.
Well with only that one roster spot open, why would they add him if they thought they could still add barry? Wait, it just occurred to me that Barry is still a week away from joining a team due to his calf issue. Maybe this means nothing. Hard to say.
Agreed. Not to mention the Suns also have Shaq in the paint who is better at the kickout than Yao could ever dream of becoming.
