No... players never get enough of the championships, they always want more, but I have a feeling that we will get him!!!
Maybe he feels like he's been watching other people win champioships in SA, and he wants the feeling of winning/earning a ring for himself?
If I was Berry I would want a player option on the 2nd year, so if he does real good for the next 3 months, he can possibly get some team to anty up for him.
Jon Barry himself said that Brent wanted to be a "significant" piece to a team. Phoenix has enough depth that will only give Brent a few minutes a game...San Antonio barely played him. I think it's down to us and Boston to be honest...only we can really give Brent some decent minutes, especially in crunch time. We all know how much "significant" Jon was in our playoff run...I suspect he's telling Barry the same sort of thing. Cod
Boston.com sports blog has a league source saying that Boston and the Mavs are out of the mix. IMO he's going to be a Spur. http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/extras/celtics_blog/ Barry update An NBA source said that the Spurs, Rockets and Suns are now the front-runners to sign soon to be free agent guard Brent Barry. Barry will clear waivers Tuesday morning after being released by Seattle following a recent trade from San Antonio. The Celtics now seem to be a long shot. If Barry is to return to the Spurs, who traded him to Seattle, he would have to wait 30 days before he could sign.
Yeah I think that is why the delay. He wants San Antonio to convince him they really need him. I think SA does really need him. His minutes were down some this season but not much and I don't think he will got a whole bunch more minutes here. If he takes all of Tmac and Battiers minutes that won't be much more than 20-22 minutes.
I think it is about a 15% chance the Rockets get him. Probably worst than anytime in the sweepstakes for him. He wasn't born yesterday, he knows a 2 year deal will basically be a 1 year rental, since we will probably try to unload his expiring contract next season. I do think he would fit in nicely on our team but I think it is mostly between the Spurs and Celtics. With Spurs still the high favorites. If I had to rank it would be, Spurs, Celtics, Mavs, Rockets, Suns.
i think its 65/35 between san antonio and houston. if he wanted to be a significant piece he'd have gone to boston, but i think he doesnt want to be too far from home. he'd obviously play a larger role here than san antonio. hopefully he chooses us
Yes but combined with Bobby Jackson could allow us to get an 8-9 million contract back. The other team would have to want a salary dump and some cash and draft picks. But he might help in getting us a decent player next year. Still, I am sure the deal would make it his option to return. Also if he is looking for playing time on a contender, the Suns seem to need his help the most. Raja Bell and Grant Hill are playing too many minutes.
he's not gonna come to houston.. it's just too good to be true.. something like this won't happen to a houston team... (reverse jinx)
Yes, I read that yesterday - I think the author is just guessing - he contradicts himself by first saying he thinks he has chosen the Suns, then lists all the other options. My guess is he'll go back to San Antonio. But it would be great to get him.
Yeah the more I look at it the more I think Phoenix is his best choice. They are sinking right now and need shooters to make teams pay for clogging the middle. Brent is perfect for them. Raja Bell is playing too many minutes. Hell who knows! We'll be okay one way or the other. Come on Down Bobby Jones, you are the next contestant.
