while I agree with your resale value (toyotas are awesome for this), brand new cars are much more likely to fail than one with 10-40K miles that have been taken care of. Problems usually happen fast.
If you have a car that's over 10 years old the fed govt will give you a $3,000 voucher to turn your car in and purchase a new one, but it has to be a 2005 model or above. http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/implementation/air/mobilesource/vim/driveclean.html You have to go to select dealerships but there are at least 100-150 on this list that I have. It looks like the majority of folks aren't feeling the Ford's. I like the post about the extended warranty but those only cover major things right....not minor little repairs?
Thanks for the responses. AS I continue to look it seems like a new 08 Corolla for $12K is not a bad deal....
bad...so so bad... Two Options: Quit being poor or find an alternative like SMART. Cheap + looking unique and you will die as soon as a Tahoe runs you over.
Apparently.... Ford is the best in Texas. Or at least thats what they claim on television 500,000 times a day.
Not really, no, it's been one of the top selling vehicles in Europe for a number of years. The new Ford's aren't bad and will serve you well -- for the most part -- until around 5 years/100k or so (much like the industry average). For a $4000 premium (almost 50% more), the Corolla is not worth it, not to mention that the post-2000 model Corolla's have been troublesome from my personal experience. The Corolla lost serious ground to the Civic over the past few years to the point that it's not worthy of being mentioned in the same breath anymore. If the price difference was $2000 or less, I would tell you to give the Corolla some serious consideration. For $4000 less, the Focus is a no-brainer, unless you like to throw your money away for fun.
Everyone has a different opinion, me being a big car guy can tell you ALL vehicles have problems. If not Toyota, Honda, Nissan wouldn't have service bays. Ford makes a good product(Focus top ten car by Car & Driver) most if not all of their small displacement engines/transaxles are built by Mazda ( Fusion=Mazda 6, Focus=Mazda 3) The F-150 is still the preffered truck by contractors and fleets. Don't just assume that a Honda or a Toyota is a better car just because of hear say. We still build good car in the U.S. Ask around and utimatelly buy what she's comfortable with.
I think you should change this to Japanese (unless talking about Kia etc) And consumer reports disagrees with you on this for currently sold autos.
you forgot to mention that the vehicle they sell in europe is totally different from the one in usa. nice job.
I have a Ford F-150 bought it used with about 169,000 miles and have had no problems radiator that I had to buy a new one. Its a 2002 F-150 and now has about 190,000miles and going strong. If anything Ford only really takes pride in making good trucks and Mustangs it seems to me.
