I think his formula is quite flawed. He didn't adjust for the difference in strength between the East and the West. And there is too much emphasis on scoring margin, which is related not just to the strength of the team but also to the team playing style. Raptors have a whole bunch of good young shooters and when they blow you out they won't stop, but when they don't have a good day they lose those close games. This is not like veteran teams such as Spurs which enjoying playing the cat and mouse game by consistently beating the opponents by a few points and then slowing down.
SI has us at #1. Too high i think. we are playing great but Stein, who usually doesn't make good points, made one when he said only 4 of the 12 were winning opponents. Not to say that kicking the crap out of NO away wasn't a great statement game. I really want to see what happens in March when we start getting a tough schedule again. If we can put together a string of big wins then I'll be convinced that it might be "time".
before you call someone an idiot.... why don't you read how those rankings are calculated. some people amaze me... Read to Achieve my friend.. read to achieve.
Yes except that 5 of the 12 wins were against winning teams. Golden State Cleveland - twice Portland New Orleans Or if you extrapolate furhter into the 16 out of 17 games range. It is 7 out of those 16 wins against teams over .500... DD
At least Hollinger has a method to his madness. Instead of just jumping on the bandwagon of any team that makes a huge trade or wins a few in a row (including us). I agree with Hayesfan. While they might not take strength of schedule into account(I dunno, maybe Hollinger's does), as I said above, the Rockets have been playing an Eastern Conference schedule lately.
I didn't check my numbers. But still, 7 out of 17 does not look like a truly intense schedule. The Rockets are playing great ball, don't get me wrong, but . . . . I want to see what happens after: Sun, Mar 2 Denver 8:00 PM Wed, Mar 5 Indiana 8:30 PM Thu, Mar 6 @ Dallas 9:30 PM Sat, Mar 8 New Orleans 8:30 PM Mon, Mar 10 New Jersey 8:30 PM Wed, Mar 12 @ Atlanta 7:00 PM Fri, Mar 14 Charlotte 8:30 PM Sun, Mar 16 LA Lakers 7:00 PM Tue, Mar 18 Boston 9:30 PM Wed, Mar 19 @ New Orleans 8:00 PM Fri, Mar 21 @ Golden State 10:30 PM Sat, Mar 22 @ Phoenix 10:00 PM There's only about 4 or 5 games in there that should be gimmes. The end of it is nasty.
Well I know, but it is not like all 17 were cream puffs.... You have to play the schedule...so.....don't worry, be happy. DD
That week of Mar 16-22 is brutal, no doubt. But between now and then, the Rockets have only 3 tough matchups: Denver, at Dallas, and New Orleans. And the Rockets will be favored in 2 of those 3 games.
dude take the stick outta your ***, i called him an idiot and that's that. i don't care how he "calculates" it, look at their record and look at ours. look at our schedule and look at theirs...tell me they are a better team than us
you're just pissed off cuz hayes never plays anymore and probably will never see more than 10 minutes in a game again...
