If Rudy and the Rocket's Management did not think Collier or Langi could, would, or should play in the NBA, why did they draft them? Understandably, Collier has been injured most of the time, but he isn't now, nor is Langi and they are getting virtually no chance to play. If they are not good enough to play then why did the organization acquire them?
Houstone, are you angry at Rudy for thinking they have potential or at me for asking the question. My impression is that Rudy has no confidence in them at all. It is not like we are in the middle of the playoff race.
Were I a suspicious fellow, I might say that they are tall white guys with jump shots, but I'm not, so I won't... P.S.....I really am just joking...at least about the white thing...Rudy loves long jump shooters, and when he doesn't have 'em, he tries to make 'em..
I think you know how to navigate and edit this site better than I do. Maybe that is why you are a SENIOR MEMBER, and I am just a mere member!
I agree JAG, but they are tall white quys with jump shots that are not playing. Let me see if I can sum this up. We acquired Collier and Langi so they could make millions and WATCH. We acquired Cato because he is a terror in at least one preseason game a year. We acquired Norris because he can dribble and dribble and dribble... We acquired Rice so we could all witness the horrors of premature aging. We acquired T.Morris because he is Steve's friend. ETC. ETC. Bad decisions make for bad teams. Thank God for Francis, Mobley, Griffin, Thomas, Willis (remember him?), Torres, and T.Brown, all very good decisions; however, we need a few more good choices to turn the tide. Even with Taylor back this team has the wrong personnel!
We traded for Collier because Rudy could not pronounce that other guys name and we drafted Langhi to scratch Collier's back on the bench!
i believe it was abraham lincoln who was once said: (paraphrased) better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt. maybe rudy believes in this philosophy, and is worried that as long as they don't get the minutes they might be considered as "potential" but if they got more time people would realize what a mistake was made... i've gotta admit though that we seem rudderless over the last few years of the draft. i like rudy but as a fan who gets to see things from afar, i don't really get a good feel of what the big picture of the team is. even discounting the injuries i'm not convinced the team is being built (or rebuilt) properly. but alas i'm not sure i want to go down that path....
i believe it was King Fu who said (paraphrased): 'the path which is worn most, is often the path that is the most often traveled..the path which is worn least, is often the path that blossoms in the spring.... the board should shut down to avoid the wearing our welcome!
regarding last year's draft, i don't think you can find many teams that can honestly say that their draft picks were everything they thought they would be..
